General Manager at Kimisitu Investment Company Limited - KICL

Kimisitu Investment Company PLC is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of General Manager. The General Manager will report to the Board Chairman and the Board of Directors. This role is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the company, including the achievement of its objectives, goals, and profitability. The ideal candidate will also ensure the company’s compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Role: The General Manager will initiate, coordinate, and participate in developing strategic and business plans, as well as key company objectives. This role involves monitoring and evaluating the company’s performance quarterly to ensure it is meeting its short- and long-term goals and maintaining a sustainable competitive advantage.
• Reporting Role: The General Manager is responsible for keeping the Board fully informed about the company’s financial status and all other important factors that might affect the achievement of its objectives. They will also identify problems and opportunities, making recommendations on policy matters to the Board.
• Governance: This position acts as the primary link between the Board of Directors and employees and other stakeholders. The General Manager works with the Board Chair to help the Board fulfill its governance functions and focus on long-term strategic issues.
• Management and Administration: This role provides guidance, leadership, and direction to the Senior Management Team to help achieve the company’s vision, mission, and values. The General Manager will manage day-to-day operations to ensure an efficient and profitable organization.
• Staff Management: Responsibilities include overseeing human resources to ensure optimal productivity and implementing processes for selecting, developing, motivating, and evaluating staff. The General Manager will also recruit personnel and negotiate professional contracts.
• Financial Management: The General Manager will oversee financial management and investment activities by ensuring that sound policies are adopted for optimal utilization and returns. They will also oversee financial activities such as budgeting, reporting, and auditing, while performing risk mitigation to minimize risks.
• Business Development: This position requires the preparation of a marketing strategy and the oversight of all marketing initiatives. The General Manager will provide leadership in business growth and customer service in line with the corporate sales and marketing plan.
• Public Relations: The General Manager serves as the chief spokesperson for the company, representing it to the community and ensuring proper representation. This role also involves seeking stakeholder feedback to improve services and generate involvement.

Qualifications:

• Academic Qualifications: A degree in Business Management, Economics, Bachelor of Commerce, or a related field is required. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other relevant professional qualifications are considered an added advantage.
• Professional Qualifications: Membership in a registered professional body in Kenya is required.
• Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience, with at least five (5) years in a senior executive-level management position.
• Skills and Attributes: The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong visionary and proven leadership qualities. They should also have professional expertise, financial orientation, and be a team player with excellent leadership skills in managing various resources. Unquestionable integrity, credibility, and character are essential.
