Internal Auditor II - 2 Posts at Samburu County Government

JOB PURPOSE:

• The Internal Auditor II will be responsible for assisting in carrying out independent and objective assurance and consulting activities aimed at adding value and improving the County Government's operations. The officer will support the department in evaluating the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As outlined in the Scheme of Service for Internal Auditors, specific duties at this level will include:

• Participating in audit reviews of systems, operations, and internal controls.
• Verifying the accuracy and reliability of financial and operational information.
• Assisting in the preparation of audit plans and programs.
• Carrying out risk-based audits and compliance checks.
• Verifying and analyzing audit evidence and preparing audit working papers.
• Preparing audit queries and participating in exit meetings.
• Drafting audit reports and following up on audit recommendations.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT:

For appointment to this position, a candidate must:

• Be a Kenyan citizen;
• Have a Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

OR

• Have passed Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or its recognized equivalent;
• Be proficient in computer applications;
• Membership in a recognized professional body such as ICPAK or IIA, will be an added advantage.
