    Mass Media Campaigns Officer – Food Policy Advocacy

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of national mass media campaigns on food policy, including:
    • Message and concept testing using focus groups or public opinion polls; selection and management of research agencies.
    • Creative development and materials production; selection and management of production agencies.
    • Media planning and placement across traditional and digital channels.
    • Event coordination, including press events, campaign launches, and media engagement.
    • Draft and review campaign content, including press releases, statements, letters to the editor, opinion pieces, Q&As, fact sheets, blogs, columns, and web/digital content.
    • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government, civil society partners, and media.
    • Lead the hiring, management, and guidance of vendors, including media planners, creative agencies, research agencies, and production companies.
    • Monitor campaign rollout, track media placements, and evaluate campaign performance.
    • Produce reports, presentations, correspondence, and other materials tsupport communication and advocacy objectives.
    • Support digital advocacy efforts, including campaign-related social media content and engagement.
    • Maintain accurate records of campaign activities and ensure timely reporting to donors and management.
    • Lead the development of media advocacy strategies that align with organizational policy objectives.
    • Provide strategic advice tthe advocacy and program teams on leveraging media for policy influence.

    Key Deliverables

    •  Implement national mass media campaigns on food policy
    • Develop key messages and concepts
    • Draft press releases for mass media campaigns
    • Plan and execute campaign activations
    • Draft campaign backgrounders
    • Support the production of materials for evidence-based campaigns for the food policy program in collaboration with in-country partners, including but not limited to:
    • Support partner tmanage deliverables by production agency.
    • Keep record of deliverables tensure deadlines are met
    • Coordinate partner review of materials produced by agency. Keep track of feedback given and incorporated by agency
    • Work with the advocacy team tarrange meetings with government, civil society partners and/or other stakeholders tcoordinate strategy, activities and manage relationships related tfood policy program in the country
    • Develop multimedia content for web and digital promotion, including but not limited to blogs, videblogs, newsletter write-ups, case studies, etc.
    • Update supplier databases for campaign production and research projects
    • Lead the screening and recruitment of agencies for campaign material production
    • Brief creative and production agencies
    • Monitor and review of creative and production agency deliverables
    • Develop and track campaign key performance indicators (reach, engagement, policy influence indicators) and produce post-campaign learning reports.

    Qualifications

    • Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in communications, media, journalism, public relations, development communication, public health, or a related field is preferred.
    • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) with 7 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of post-graduate certification.
    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability ttranslate complex policy intcompelling messages.
    • Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability tjuggle multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams and departments
    • Familiarity with Kenya’s media landscape and experience engaging journalists and media outlets.
    • Experience working with or managing external agencies (media, creative, or research) tdeliver campaigns.
    • Proficiency in digital platforms, social media management tools, and content development.
    • Strong organizational, multitasking, and coordination skills, with attention tdetail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, media relations, or campaign management.
    • Experience in communication for development, health promotion, or public advocacy campaigns is an advantage.
    • Proven ability tmanage vendors and coordinate multiple partners tachieve campaign objectives.
