National Soil Laboratories Specialist at Food and Agriculture Organization

Tasks and responsibilities

• The National Soil Laboratories Specialist will perform the following key functions:
• Oversee the processing of soil samples for wet and dry chemistry analysis in Kenya.
• Collaborate with project partners and laboratories to ensure accurate and timely soil analysis results.
• Support quality assurance and quality control measures for soil analysis processes, including the establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Support the organization of capacity-building activities, such as workshops and trainings, to enhance national capacities in soil analysis and data management.
• Support the implementation of laboratory equipment procurement activities of the project.
• Track progress and assess the quality of soil analysis and harmonization activities.
• Facilitate the establishment of national soil laboratory network in Kenya. 
• Provide input to project monitoring and reporting frameworks to ensure the effective implementation of soil analysis and harmonization efforts.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by FAOR.
• CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Soil Science, Crop Science, Agricultural Economics or any related fields. 
• A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive work experience in soil analysis [i.e. wet and dry chemistry] in public or private agricultural laboratories is required. 
• Working knowledge (level C) of English and Kiswahili
• Must be a National of Kenya
