    Full-time Lecturer - Institute for Social Communication

    Position Summary:

    • To deliver teaching, learning and assessment and contribute to the effectiveness and success of the relevant subject area working closely with Section Leaders and the Dean.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • To provide the highest quality teaching, learning and assessment to learners using the most appropriate and innovative methods.
    • Expected to teach ten (10) courses of three credits per year across the Institute and supervise a Maximum of 10 students per semester.
    • Be available to students via email, phone, or personal conferences. The method of contact and hours of availability should be clearly communicated to supervisors and to students through the course syllabus each semester.
    • To produce the highest quality learning and assessment materials and assignments and use the most up to date and appropriate resources to support learning and assessment.
    • Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with Tangaza regulations and submit grades and records by established deadlines.
    • Providing academic advising and mentoring students.
    • To undertake formal assessment of learner achievement and offer clear and timely feedback on progress and opportunities for progression to learners.
    • To assist the director and team in the planning and costing of new programmes taking into account curriculum changes and labour market requirements and other relevant factors.
    • Develop course curriculum, course handouts, lectures and presentations. Work with other faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies.
    • To contribute to curriculum development and establishing a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Participating in University leadership, governance, and operational activities.
    • Working collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and community members
    • To contribute to the marketing and promotion of courses in the Institute.
    • Meet all classes and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meetings at the designated times. A faculty member should inform the supervisor if he or she is unable to meet a class on time.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A PhD holder in Mass Media and Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or any related field.
    • At least three years of teaching experience in higher learning institution (s) in such areas as indicated above.
    • A record of academic achievement in the discipline.

    Key Competencies and skills

    • Have hands on skills on audio &video production, print, and film production.
    • Demonstrate ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students and the broader Educational and professional communities.
    • Skills on Studio technical management and operations will be an added advantage.

    Programme Leader - School of Nursing

    Position Summary:

    • The Programme Leader for the School of Nursing will offer strong academic and administrative guidance for the university’s nursing programs. Reporting to the DVC, ARSA, they are responsible for maintaining high-quality, well-organized nursing education that meets national regulations and supports the university’s goals.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Guide and coordinate the design, delivery, and continual evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing curricula.
    • Ensure alignment with the Nursing Council of Kenya’s requirements, including curriculum standards, examination frameworks, and clinical competencies.
    • Ensure compliance with the Nursing Council of Kenya, particularly in areas of syllabi, assessments, exam moderation, and content regulation
    • Monitor academic processes such as assessment moderation, second marking, and academic integrity protocols.
    • Serve as a supportive academic leader for nursing students, managing student performance, addressing complaints, and overseeing instructor mentoring.
    • Contribute to lecture delivery, clinical supervision, and practicum coordination.
    • Stay academically active through teaching, mentoring, and scholarly engagement within nursing.
    • Lead development of innovative initiatives such as outreach nursing programmes, e-learning, or partnerships with health facilities.
    • Coordinate scheduling and logistical support for classes, clinical placements, and assessments to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Cultivate partnerships with hospitals, healthcare agencies, community organizations, and alumni networks to support clinical placements, community nursing projects, and programme visibility.
    • Prepare and present programme reports, covering performance metrics, quality assurance outcomes, and student progression, to faculty governance bodies.
    • Market and promote the school’s nursing programmes locally and internationally, strengthening its visibility, reputation, and student recruitment.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery and a minimum of master’s degree in relevant health – related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience in an accredited nursing programme, including at least 3 years in an administrative leadership role.
    • A minimum of two years of clinical nursing and/or midwifery experience.
    • Have evidence of participation in scholarly activities such as conducting research and publishing articles in peer reviewed journals.
    • Registered and licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya in good standing.
    • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the University’s mission, vision, and core values.
    • Proven experience in curriculum implementation, examination administration, and staff supervision.
    • Experience in resource mobilization, including securing grants and leading academic development projects.
    • Competence in budget management, faculty development, and fostering university-community partnerships.
    • Strong leadership, communication, people management, and organizational skills; with a focus on student-centered initiatives, relationship building, and strategic planning

    Principal Tutor - School of Nursing

    Position Summary:

    • The Principal Tutor acts as the chief academic and administrative authority for the nursing training program, overseeing the delivery of instruction, clinical practice, and evaluations to ensure alignment with both national and institutional benchmarks. This position blends direct teaching responsibilities with strategic leadership, staff management, and adherence to the standards set by the Nursing Council of Kenya.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of nursing courses in line with the approved curriculum and NCK standards
    • Maintain compliance with NCK and Ministry of Education regulations, including curriculum updates, student enrollment requirements, and examination standard
    • Monitor and maintain high academic and professional standards in teaching and clinical practice.
    • Manage and mentor nursing tutors, clinical instructors, and support staff.
    • Monitor student performance, discipline, and professional conduct.
    • Liaise with hospitals, health centres, and community facilities to secure and supervise clinical placements.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or midwifery and a relevant post basic specialty qualification.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in an accredited nursing programme.
    • A minimum of one-year clinical experience.
    • Registered and licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya in good standing.
