    Team Leader - NICU & Nursery

    Role Overview

    • We are seeking an experienced and committed Team Leader - NICU & Nursery to support the Head of Department - Maternity & NICU in overseeing neonatal and newborn care services. The successful candidate will supervise nursing and support staff, ensure safe and high-quality care for critically ill and well newborns, and coordinate daily operations within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Nursery.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the HOD in managing NICU and Nursery operations.
    • Provide day-to-day supervision, mentorship, and support to neonatal nurses and staff. Coordinate staff scheduling, allocation of duties, and workload management.
    • Ensure adherence to neonatal care protocols, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
    • Monitor neonates in NICU and well-baby nursery, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
    • Support family-centered care by educating and involving parents in newborn care.
    • Oversee equipment use, stock management, and consumables for neonatal units. Serve as a point of escalation for urgent patient care concerns.
    • Participate in departmental audits, morbidity/mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSCN) or Diploma in Nursing with additional training in Neonatal Nursing.
    • Registration and valid practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in neonatal/maternity care, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
    • Experience in NICU or newborn nursery care is essential.

    Quality & Infection Prevention Control (QIPC) Officer

    Role Overview

    • We are seeking a Quality & Infection Prevention Control (QIPC) Officer to support the hospital's quality improvement initiatives and strengthen infection prevention and control practices. The successful candidate will monitor compliance with healthcare standards, coordinate audits, and ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.itically ill and well newborns, and coordinate daily operations within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Nursery.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement and monitor hospital-wide quality assurance and patient safety programs.
    • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks in line with accreditation standards. Develop and update infection prevention and control (IPC) policies, guidelines, and SOPs.
    • Monitor infection trends, investigate outbreaks, and recommend corrective/preventive measures. Provide training and sensitization to staff on quality improvement and IPC best practices.
    • Collect, analyze, and report quality indicators, patient safety incidents, and infection rates. Support root cause analysis of incidents and follow-up on corrective action plans.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuous quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or related health field.
    • Additional training/certification in Quality Management, Patient Safety, or Infection Prevention & Control.
    • At least 3-5years of relevant experience in a hospital or healthcare setting. Atleast 2 years' experience as Quality Lead within hospital.

    Head of Department - Maternity

    Role Overview
