    Chief University Librarian

    Duties and Responsibilities

    An officer in this level is responsible for:

    • Oversee the day-to-day running of the University Library including the acquisition, processing and circulation of library materials.
    • Library planning and budgeting including planning the growth of library resources, preparing the annual library budget and planning and implementing library staff training in conjunction with the Registrar (Administration, Human Resource and Central Services).
    • Identifying, developing and implementing the Information and Communication Technology policy in the library in conjunction with the Director of Information and Communication Technology.
    • Developing and administering library user Education programmes for members of staff and students.
    • Promoting cooperation with other Libraries and Information Resource Centres and facilitating inter-library loans and the exchange of information.
    • Setting technical standards for all library services within the University.
    • Preparing, implementing and reviewing of the department's strategic plan and annual work plan.
    • Coordinating and managing the operations of the University Printing Press to ensure optimal service delivery.
    • Conducting annual appraisal of members of staff in the department; and
    • Preparing the department's annual budget and procurement plan.
    • Ensuring conformance to the requirements of management systems in the Department in conformance to ISO certification standards and aligning processes to ensure they deliver the intended outputs of the management system.
    • Ensuring that all approved academic programmes of the University are well catered for in terms of books, journals, e-learning resources and other resource materials and equipment, and to develop the library into a viable repository of current academic materials and other reading materials of scholarly value.
    • Any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time 

    Academic/ Professional Requirements

    • PhD in Library and Information Science or its equivalent from a recognized university 
    • At least three (3) publications in refereed journals since the last promotion.
    • Four (4) years’ working experience as Deputy University Librarian.
    • Be a member of Kenya Library Association or relevant professional organization in good and regular.

    Chief Medical Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    An officer in this level is responsible for:

    • In charge of health services and exercising overall supervision of the health personnel in the University 
    • Ensuring the smooth delivery of health care to the employees of the University and their families.
    • Responsible for management of resources for the operation of medical services
    • Providing health education and control measures for preventable diseases and injuries.
    • Providing formal and informal training to other health personnel in the Medical Department.
    • Leading and actively participating in the care coordination program including;
      • monitoring of the appropriateness of consultations;
      • diagnosing procedures;
      • utilization of resources; and
      • leading all initiatives that concerns involving patient safety, quality, infection control and risk management, patient service, ethics;
      • diagnosing, caring and treating of diseases.
    • Performing medical and surgical procedures.
    • Preparing forand responding to emergencies and disasters.
    • Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments and equipment.
    • Providing health education, maintaining medical records, health information and data.
    • Counseling patients and their relatives on diagnoses and bereavement.
    • Conducting internal audit quality checks at the health unit
    • Preparing, implementing and reviewing of the department's strategic plan and annual work plan.
    • Ensuring conformance to the requirements of management systems in the Department in conformance to ISO certification standards and aligning processes to ensure they deliver the intended outputs of the management system.
    • Preparing the department's annual budget and procurement plan.
    • Conducting annual appraisal of members of staff in the department.
    • Any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time. 

    Academic / Professional Requirements

    • Master’s degree in relevant medical field from recognized institution.
    • Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery 
    • Four (4) years’ experience as Deputy Chief Medical Officer     
    • Be registered by a relevant professional body
    • Have a valid practicing license
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
    • Senior Management Course and/or strategic Leadership course will be an added advantage

    Manager ICT

    Duties and Responsibilities

    An officer in this level is responsible for:

    • Provide leadership in the ICT Directorate.
    • Preparing, overseeing, implementing and reviewing the University Information and Communication Technology policy and align it with the University Strategic Plan.
    • Integrating the use of Information and Communication Technology in teaching, learning and research.
    • Ensuring the University Information and Communication Technology resources are aligning to its stated strategic aspirations.
    • Overseeing development and support of major Information and Communication Technology systems and functions.
    • Developing and reviewing practice to ensure management and application of University Information and Communication Technology resources is efficient and effective.
    • Assessing and advising the University Management Board and the Senate on any proposed changes to the current Information and Communication Technology and practices.
    • Considering and recommending Information and Communication Technology budget and the allocation of Information and Communication Technology resources among users.
    • Facilitating implementation of Information and Communication Technology projects.
    • Ensuring regular update of the University website, and ensure that the content is relevant.
    • Ensure automation of university processes and ensure data security
    • Ensuring Information and Communication Technology investment priorities are effectively aligned with the University strategic plan.
    • Designing and implementing Information and Communication Technology business continuity and disaster recovery plan for the University.
    • Addressing any other Information and Communication Technology strategic and policy matters as may be referred to it by the University Management Board and the Senate.
    • Ensuring conformance to the requirements of management systems in the Department in conformance to ISO certification standards and aligning processes to ensure they deliver the intended outputs of the management system.
    • Responsible for all staff matters in Directorate.
    • Secretary to the University ICT Committee.
    • Any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time. 

    Academic/ Professional Requirements

    • Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or its equivalent from a recognized institution. 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Communication and Technology, Computer Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution. 
    • Four (4) years’ working experience as Deputy ICT Director 
    • Be a member of relevant professional organization. 
    • Relevant Certifications.
