The nucleus planted area stretches about ten kilometers (10 km) in the north-south direction and about six kilometers (6 km) in the east to west direction. To ensure business continuity, in 2003, TOPP initiated a replanting programme for the nucleus plantings, in which the first generation palm trees of twenty five years and above are being felled and replaced with higher yielding and drought tolerant seedlings.
