    Operations/Quality Supervisor

    The Operations/Quality Supervisor will oversee daily production and quality assurance processes to ensure that Alive and Kicking Kenya maintains its high standards of craftsmanship and operational efficiency. The role involves supervising staff, monitoring production workflows, and ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and organizational policies.

    Key Duties:

    Operations Management

    • Supervise daily production activities to ensure efficiency and timely achievement of targets.
    • Coordinate workflow and delegate tasks to team members to maximize productivity.
    • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and foster a positive work environment.
    • Collaborate with other departments to resolve operational challenges and improve coordination.
    • Develop and oversee production schedules to align with delivery timelines and resource availability.
    • Ensure smooth procurement processes by liaising with relevant teams to maintain adequate inventory of raw materials and supplies.
    • Develop and oversee production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
    • Monitor production output to meet quality and efficiency standards.
    • Quality Assurance
    • Establish, implement, and monitor quality control measures to uphold the organization's standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits throughout production processes to identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop corrective action plans to address and resolve quality issues.
    • Provide training to staff on quality assurance standards and procedures to maintain consistent output.
    • Process Improvement
    • Identify inefficiencies in production workflows and recommend solutions to streamline processes.
    • Lead initiatives for operational improvement, including adopting best practices or innovative strategies.
    • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for enhanced operational consistency.
    • Analyze production data and prepare reports to highlight trends and areas for optimization.
    • Health, Safety, and Compliance
    • Oversee compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring all employees
    • operate within legal and organizational guidelines.
    • Conduct safety training sessions to promote awareness and reduce risks.
    • Facilitate annual fire drills, monitor lessons learned, and implement corrective measures.
    • Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of equipment and materials to minimize risks.
    • Ensure regular inspection and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
    • Oversee repairs and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.
    • Adhere to environmental regulations to ensure sustainable production practices.
    • Team Leadership and Development
    • Train, mentor, and supervise production teams to build skills and improve overall team performance.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend appropriate development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment to achieve organizational objectives.
    • Represent Alive and Kicking Kenya in relevant forums or industry-specific events to highlight production successes and innovative practices.
    • Cost and Inventory Management
    • Monitor production costs, ensuring effective resource allocation and minimal waste.
    • Control and manage the organization's operational budgets within allocated limits.
    • Oversee inventory levels and ensure accurate tracking to avoid shortages or overstocking.
    • Crisis and Contingency Management
    • Prepare contingency plans to address unforeseen disruptions in production.
    • Lead resolution efforts for operational emergencies to minimize downtime and ensure continuity.
    • Any other adhoc
    • Perform additional related tasks as needed.

    Education and Experience

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Quality Assurance, or leather technology.
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in operations or quality assurance roles.
    • Proven experience in supervising teams and managing production workflows.
    • Familiarity with inventory management and procurement processes.
    • Experience in data analysis and reporting to drive decision-making.
