Contracts Coordinator (Electrical) - Nairobi at Bechtel Corporation

Project Summary

Bechtel is helping an ambitious programme to deliver multiple data centers across 10 African countries. This programme will initially provide at least 70MW capacity of much needed interconnected carrier and cloud-neutral data facilities in this currently under-served and rapidly expanding market. Bechtel will provide central programme management and in-country deployed teams to deliver engineering, procurement and construction services tailored to location specific requirements. This is a great opportunity to develop with this fast-moving customer while helping Data Centre Teams in various African locations including:

• Lagos, Nigeria
• and other cities across Africa

Position Summary

Deployed to help a specific data center project (in this case Nairobi), the Contract Coordinator will report to the Site Superintendent. This position demands excellent communication skills and a strong collaborative working ethic.

Responsibilities

The Contract Coordinator (Electrical) will:

For Their Assigned Contracts

• coordinate the day-to-day construction activities
• undertake weekly work planning
• deconflict access to work areas
• maintain daily reports
• ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements
• Collaborate with Field Engineers to ensure compliance with RFI/FCD/NCR processes to maintain configuration control through to construction completion
• Provide safety leadership to contractors and participate in ES&H walk downs
• Assure adherence to contract, design, and quality requirements
• Monitor quality inspections performed by contractors to assure compliance with inspection and test plans
• Help development of trends for proposed design changes or any change that impacts the cost and schedule of the work

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction means, methods and materials relating to electrical commodities
• Working knowledge of subcontract management
• Ability to drive a Zero Incident Philosophy
• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
