County Attorney at Tharaka Nithi County Assembly

Requirements for Appointment:
For appointment to this position, a candidate should:

• Be a citizen of Kenya;
• Advocate of the High Court of at least five years standing and
• Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Principal Legal adviser to the County Government
• Represent the County executive to court or any other legal proceedings to which the County Executive is party to.
• Advise departments in the County Executive on legislative and other legal matters
• Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of the County Executive and its agencies.
• Shall be responsible for revision of the County Laws
• May liaise with the Office of the Attorney General when need arises and
• Issue directions to any officer performing legal functions in any department within the County Executive

Terms of Service

• The County Attorney will serve on six (6) year contract as determined by the Act.
• The gross monthly salary and benefits attached to this position will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Integrity Clearance

• Successful applicant is expected to get clearance from the following bodies.
• Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
• Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
• Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
• Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
• Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
