Environmental Law Expert Cambodia at United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Under the supervision of the Head of the Montevideo Coordination and Delivery Unit, the consultant will:
• Draft a Sub decree on the establishment and management of community-protected areas in accordance with Art. 371 (para 8) of the Environment and Natural Resources Code.
• Draft a Sub decree on ecotourism development and management in natural protected areas in accordance with Art. 612 of the Environment and Natural Resources Code.
• Organize and conduct stakeholder consultations on the two abovementioned draft sub decrees.

Qualifications/special skills

• A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in environmental law, environmental policy, international law, or sustainable development-related matters is required. Experience in legal drafting and development of legal frameworks for environmental management is required. Experience in working on environmental issues within Asia and the Pacific region, particularly in Cambodia, will be an asset.
• A minimum of five years of progressive experience in environmental law, climate change and sustainable development-related matters.
• Background in legal drafting and development of legal frameworks for environmental management.
• Experience in working on environmental issues within Asia and the Pacific region, particularly in Cambodia, will be an asset.
• Excellent legal drafting skills.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated capacity to work in a consultative manner and drafting skills. Direct working experience in environmental law or environmental policy.
