Head of Operations at Summit Recruitment and Search

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and execution of the country’s logistics and distribution strategy.
• Set up operational infrastructure including warehouses, transport networks, and delivery hubs.
• Oversee implementation of operational policies, systems, and SOPs in line with best practices.
• Manage inbound and outbound logistics, last-mile delivery, inventory control, and fleet operations.
• Build, manage, and develop high-performing operations and logistics teams.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, transport and customs regulations, and local Labor laws.
• Develop and manage operational budgets and cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Management. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• 8 – 12 years of progressive experience in logistics/transport/supply chain, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong understanding of the logistics landscape in Kenya and East Africa (e.g. road infrastructure, customs, transport costs).
• Experience setting up or scaling logistics operations from the ground up is highly desirable.
• Strategic thinker with strong execution capability.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving ability.
• High attention to detail with a performance and process improvement mindset.
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
