Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. Receiving/collecting, labeling and registering patients’ specimens.
Proper sample reception and processing including culture, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing and recording results.
Media preparation, QC and packaging samples for shipment to other labs.
Participate in developing assays, equipment SOP development and laboratory waste autoclaving.
Perform data entry from preanalytical, analytical and post analytical processes
Supervising the disinfection, washing and sterilization of apparatus; and
Participation in IQC and EQA Pannel testing
Maintenance of equipment, supplies inventory, reagents and lab records
Vacancy Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields; Medical Laboratory Sciences Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Sciences/Biology, Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Technology or Biotechnology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Mandatory
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Microbiology laboratory. Mandatory
Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) where applicable; or any other recognized regulatory body Mandatory
Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists where applicable Mandatory
Proficiency in computer application; Mandatory
Demonstrated work performance and results Mandatory
