Legal and Compliance Manager at Adanian Labs

We are recruiting a Manager for our Legal Operations team. Successful candidates will have or be able to quickly develop functional expertise across all our Legal Operations services, have experience managing large teams, and be able to maintain a high level of customer service, communication and cultural fit with strategic customers.

What You’ll Do

• Develops, implements, and monitors policies, readiness activities and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Work directly with our customers to develop solutions related to legal spend management, technology implementations, and process improvements.
• Manage the delivery of legal spend management services, and specific attention related to managing escalations and coordinating with our broader legal operations team.
• Work closely with executives of our customers to expand and build a relationship.
• Work closely with lawyers across all practice areas (with a focus on litigation, competition and regulatory, M&A, or large commercial transactions), both in-house and at partner level with law firms.
• Manage or assist in projects involving redesign or improvement of legal operations processes.
• Develop a working knowledge of technology applicable to the field.
• Engage national and county governments on regulatory matters affecting members;
• Participate and engage Adanian members on constitutional implementation in Kenya;
• Attend to members legal and regulatory issues and provide timely advice;
• Support members on legal and regulatory issues affecting their businesses by developing position papers or legal opinions and contacting the relevant authorities for intervention;
• Participate in negotiating compliance and disputes resolution on arising members issues;
• Advice members on legal requirements affecting their businesses;
• Support Adanian Labs Committees, Sectors and Chapters as assigned on legal and regulatory matters;
• Review county, national, regional and international instruments of interest to Adanian labs members
• Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings on legal and regulation matters;
• Oversee litigation matters affecting members for advocacy purposes as per the company policies;
• Assist to draft, review and advice on contracts, memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and partnership agreements where necessary;
• Related analysis of legal spend, legal project management.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive

Role Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Laws (LLB degree);
• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
• 3+ years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment involving operations management.
• LLM qualification is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in information technology.
• Excellent interpersonal, people and communication skills both oral and written
