PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for caring for patients needs within the hospital by following established standards and practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assisting the Nurse in patient care tasks and other unit-based activities as assigned from time to time
• Ensuring adequate supplies are available and maintained in order to perform daily tasks
• Acts as personal care provider by attending to ongoing patient needs including, but not limited to, vital signs, personal care, etc.
• Ensures patients beds are well done and clean at all times
• Responsible for performing light housekeeping duties in patient’s room
• Assists in setting up equipment’s as directed by the nurses
• Observes patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports on any abnormal changes or patterns to nurse in charge
• Responsible for emptying bedpans and change dirty linens
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Certificate in Health Care Assistant training from a recognized institution
• At least two (2)-year relevant experience
• Additional training in health care management will be an added advantage
• Should demonstrate high level of compassion
• Highly organized and good planner
• Pleasant and friendly
• Neat and clean
• Professional in conduct and dressing
• Ability to empathize
• Ethical and responsible
• Able to perform well without close supervision
• Self-motivated and dynamic
• Ability to work under stress and for extended hours
• Observe good personal hygiene standards
