Principal Information Communication Technology Officer at The Kenya BioVax Institute

Job Purpose:

 To formulate and implement ICT policies, procedures and systems, Plan, Design, Implement and align ICT strategies for effective management of services at all levels.

 Requirements:

• A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant experience with three (3) years in a Supervisory position;
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Business Information Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; 
• Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Business Information Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; 
• Relevant ICT certifications such as CCNP, MCSE, CISA, CISSP, Prince 2 or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; 
• Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;Membership to a relevant professional body where applicable; 
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and (viii) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

Job Specification

Key Duties & Responsibilities  

• Formulate, implement and review ICT policies, strategies and programmes in the Institute; 
• Design specifications aimed at the computerization and networking of all functions, activities and processes in the Institute; 
• Evaluate user requests for new, modified or updated software application programmes to determine feasibility and compatibility with current system;
• Review, test and evaluate both hardware systems and software programmes to determine their efficiency, reliability and compatibility and recommending data communication systems; 
• Investigate and resolve computer hardware and software problems reported by users; and 
• Adhere to information communication technology standards.

Terms of Service 

• The successful applicant will be appointed on permanent and pensionable terms.
