Principal Product Quality Control Officer at The Kenya BioVax Institute

Job Purpose:        

Provide leadership in the quality control activities to ensure that the quality of all batches of products manufactured in the facility meets adopted pre-set standards and requirements both local and international.

Requirements:

• A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a Supervisory position in the public service or in the private sector;
• Bachelors degree in any of the following field: Pharmacy, Life/ Biological Sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Masters degree in any of the following fields: Pharmacy, Life/ Biological Sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Membership to a professional body, where applicable;
• Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Experience in vaccine/sterile product manufacturing and/or vaccine/sterile product quality assurance will be an added advantage;
• Proficiency in computer applications; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Job Specification

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed instructions for each test and analysis;
• Develop a framework for identification and segregation of test samples to avoid mix-up and cross-contamination;
• Undertake environmental monitoring and equipment validation for evaluating the adequacy of the manufacturing conditions;
• Release or reject raw materials and intermediate products, packaging, labelling materials, the final containers in which drugs are to be placed and finished product;
• Establish and, when necessary, revise control procedures and specifications; and
• Ascertain the examination of returned products to determine whether such products should be released, reprocessed or destroyed.
