Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Sociology, Social Work or related field from a recognized institution
Certificate in a Senior Management Course from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
Served for a minimum period of twelve (12) years and currently serving at the grade of Chief Youth Officer, JG M and above or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
Possess Leadership skills, Communication skills, Interpersonal skills, Organizational skills, Ability to work under pressure, Negotiation skills, Ability to build and lead cohesive teams, Problem solving skills
Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and integrity.
Job Description
Coordinating staff performance management, training and development;
Assigning staff additional responsibilities and tasks where necessary;
Coordinating the development of guidelines to strengthen linkages and absorption of youth into employment, internship and volunteerism;
Coordinating the formulation and implementation of policies, programmes, strategies, plans and activities that promote youth development;
Mainstreaming youth affairs at local, national and international levels;
Undertaking research and consultancy and disseminating information on youth development issues;
Ensuring that an integrated youth information system is developed; and
Any other duties that may be assigned by the Director Youth Affairs
