    Senior Manager, IT Platform Monitoring & Process Automation

    JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

    The holder of this role will lead a team of specialists in the creation/development, deployment, and support of the monitoring systems that Loop DFS uses to monitor its core business applications, infrastructure & processes.

    The role holder will develop custom IT monitoring solutions where standard tools are not available, collaborating with the IT Platform Operations, Infrastructure & Business teams to define metrics that should be monitoring and reported.

    The IT Platform Monitoring Senior Manager also has responsibility for the creation and refinement of Monitoring Service policies, processes, and procedures within LOOP DFS.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

    Platform Monitoring Strategy (20%)           

    • Design, create, refine, implement, document, and maintain a fit for purpose Monitoring strategy with well-defined policies and processes, based on ITIL principles, for successful monitoring of software and infrastructure through a full lifecycle delivery chain.
    • Establish guidelines around system alerting and alert routing to ensure efficient and timely response to infrastructure/ system issues which impact production environments.

    Monitoring Automation (20%)       

    • Develop, implement, and maintain automated monitoring tools & scripts with an End-to-End scope covering:
    • Availability monitoring
    • Web performance monitoring
    • Application Performance Monitoring
    • API & Integrations Monitoring (APM)
    • Real User Monitoring (RUM)
    • Business Activity Monitoring (BAM)
    • Work with development and operations teams to ensure alert thresholds are fit for purpose and do not generate false positives or spam alerts / events.
    • 24x7 Management of the monitoring tools/systems.

    Robotics Process Automation (20%)

    • Design, create, refine, implement, document, and maintain a fit for purpose Robotics Process Automation framework that supports Automation of Operations processes for higher efficiency & accuracy.

    Monitoring Champion (20%)

    • Collaborates with the IT Platform Operations, Architecture, Infrastructure & Business teams to continuously improve processes and procedures through monitoring.
    • Maximize our knowledge as industry leading experts on monitoring systems so that we can understand and implement advanced monitoring scenarios, address monitoring gaps, and to ensure that our corporate resources are monitored as effectively as possible
    • Champion Monitoring processes and tools. Ensure that Monitoring principles, processes and tools are established and adhered to. Encourage teams to use them by demonstrating best practice as well as training and information dissemination to other stakeholders. This includes giving presentations and running workshops to large groups

    Team Leadership (10%)

    • Provides effective leadership to the IT Platform Monitoring Specialists, by giving continuous support and guidance which translates into a conducive working environment and employee satisfaction. This includes identifying and facilitating the achievement of personal development initiatives that will grow the team’s knowledge and skills.

    Architectural Reviews (10%)

    • Analyse technical architecture of systems and applications to understand dependencies, points of failure, impacts, and external and internal interfaces, to provide monitoring recommendations for system and infrastructure and time estimates.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    Academic:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

    Desired work experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience with 3 years in a managerial role within a large highly digitized organization designing, implementing and managing mission critical systems.
    • Experience in deployment, scripting & configuration of Observability & Monitoring tools – Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, Solar Winds, Logic Monitor, Nagios, Sentry etc.
    • Experience in deployment, scripting & configuration of Robotics Process Automation tools.
    • Certification and experience implementing best practice frameworks e.g. ITIL v4 (preferred)
    • Cloud certified e.g., Azure, AWS or Huawei cloud.
    • Knowledge & experience working with tools such as Jenkins, ELK Stack, PostMan, SOAPUI, Git etc. will be an added advantage.
    • Hands on and practical knowledge in use of databases e.g. Oracle, MySQL, PostgresSQL
    • Broad technical acumen across multiple disciplines applications with a solid understanding of current technologies especially within the Fintech and Financial space.
