    The Project:

    • The Centre for Healthcare Quality and Innovation (CHQI), based at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, seeks to recruit four (4) Software Developers on a three-month temporary basis in Nairobi, reporting to the Senior Systems Specialist.

    Job Purpose:

    Support front-end interfaces to backend systems, integrations, and data pipelines.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop responsive frontends using React and other modern frontend frameworks;
    • Build robust backends with Java, C# and Python, including RESTful APIs;
    • Design and implement dashboards and reporting tools to support healthcare providers and other stakeholders;
    • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines and contribute to data engineering tasks;
    • Work with multiple databases (SQL and NoSQL) to support diverse solutions;
    • Integrate with third-party services such as EMRs, bulk SMS providers, payment gateways, and other healthcare systems;
    • Contribute to AI and machine learning initiatives (predictive analytics, automation, clinical insights);
    • Deploy, monitor, and support solutions in production environments;
    • Collaborate in a cross-functional team to design secure, scalable, and user-friendly systems.

    Job Specification:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field;
    • Knowledge of React or any other frontend development framework ;
    • Expert-level competence in C#, Java or Python programming language;
    • Familiarity with API design, development, and integration;
    • Understanding of databases (relational and NoSQL). Basic experience in AI and machine learning concepts (NLP, predictive modelling, data science workflows).

    Research Assistant - 20 Posts

    The Project:

    • The Centre for Healthcare Quality and Innovation (CHQI), based at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, seeks to recruit twenty (20) Research Assistants on a temporary threemonth contract to be based in Central and Eastern Kenya, including Nairobi, and reporting to thePrincipal Investigator.

    Job Purpose:

    • Recruitment of study participants and study implementation

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Operationalize study Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on site activation, participant recruitment, and data management;
    • Ensure compliance to study protocol and institutional guidelines;
    • Implement study activities including community engagement, information giving on study purpose and conduct, obtain informed consent and sample collection;
    • Maintaining accurate records of study procedures;
    • Provide study team with regular feedback on study activities;
    • Participate in regular team calls and meetings;
    • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

    Job Specification:

    Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualification pathways to be eligible. These include:

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery ( MBChB) with evidence of research experience; or, a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with at least three (3) years’ relevant research or clinical experience; or
    • Diploma in a health profession with three (3) years’ experience in infectious diseases (HIV, TB) or NCD prevention and care.; or
    • Masters degree in a social sciences in any of the following disciplines; Sociology, Medical Anthropology, Health Economics, or Gender Studies, with demonstrated qualitative research experience.
