The Head of Operations will provide leadership and strategic direction for the entire operations ecosystem including logistics, warehousing, merchandising, inventory management, branch coordination and overall retail operations. The ideal candidate will build strong operational systems, streamline processes, enhance supply chain efficiency, and ensure every product movement is timely, accurate and cost-effective. This role requires a strong operations strategist with hands-on ability, commercial awareness and deep understanding of retail dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Supply Chain Leadership
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely delivery, minimal disruptions, and accurate stock flows across all branches.
- Design, evaluate and continuously improve logistics routes, transport costs, delivery schedules and turnaround times.
- Strengthen coordination and ensure consistency in purchase-to-delivery timelines.
Warehouse Management & Inventory Control
- Lead warehouse operations to uphold efficiency, safety, accuracy and adherence to SOPs.
- Monitor and improve inventory accuracy, reconciliation processes and ERP stock movements.
- Implement robust inventory control mechanisms to reduce variances, minimize losses, and ensure optimal stock levels for all Stock Keeping Units.

Retail Operations & Branch Coordination
- Provide end-to-end coordination for branch operations, ensuring teams have the resources, stock and operational support they need.
- Align all branch functions with company policies, retail standards and customer service expectations.
- Monitor branch performance metrics, identify operational gaps and implement corrective actions.

Merchandising & Commercial Optimization
- Lead merchandising planning and execution, including product assortment, visual display standards, stock presentation and sales floor readiness.
- Analyze sales trends, SKU performance and customer buying patterns to influence stocking and merchandising strategies.
- Work closely with procurement and sales teams to ensure displays, product placements, and stock replenishment drive revenue and margin growth.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Develop and enforce company-wide SOPs for logistics, warehousing, retail operations, merchandising, and branch processes.
- Define KPIs for all operational functions and drive performance management across teams.
- Use data-driven insights to recommend operational improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and workflow automation.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, company policies, and legal requirements.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, train, mentor, and develop operations, logistics, warehouse and retail coordination teams.
- Build a high-performance operations culture grounded in accountability, precision, service and continuous improvement.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration and ensure operational clarity, discipline, and alignment across the business.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5–7 years’ progressive experience in retail operations, logistics, warehousing, or supply chain; at least 3–4 years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in operational planning, multi-branch retail coordination, and inventory optimization.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills with proven ability to interpret data, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and solid understanding of retail supply chain workflows.

The role ensures timely clearance of goods, accurate landed cost computation, compliance with regulatory requirements, effective inventory management, and suppor management in pricing and discount decisions through detailed cost and product mix analysis.
Responsibilities
Import & Export Operations
- Coordinate all import shipments from order placement to final delivery.
- Liaise with suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to ensure timely clearance.
- Ensure full compliance with KRA Customs (iCMS), KEBS, PVOC, Port Health, KEPHIS, and all regulatory bodies.
- Track shipments and provide updated ETAs to relevant departments.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and verify import/export documents including invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB, and certificates of origin.
- Review customs entries for correct HS code classification, valuation, duty, and tax application.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits, compliance checks, and internal controls.
