    Research & Development Officer I

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Preparing research plans and proposals;
    • Collecting, collating and compiling research data and report writing;
    • Preparing data collection tools and instruments;
    • Writing and disseminating research reports;
    • Conducting research in the specified area; and
    • Implementing research protocols and the terms of reference for research.
    • Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

    Job Specification

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

    • Served in the grade of Research and Development Officer II for a minimum period of four (4) years or its equivalent;
    • Bachelors degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Economics and Statistics, Communication, Law, Education, Arts, Anthropology, Sociology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution; and
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinating schedules of meetings and appointments;
    • Coordinating travel arrangements;
    • Ensuring security of office records, equipment and documents, including classified materials.
    • Ensuring security, integrity and confidentiality of data;
    • Establishing and monitoring procedures for record keeping of correspondence and file movements;
    • Taking oral dictation;
    • Using e-office to research and process data;

    Job Specification

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

    Job Specification

    • Diploma in Secretarial Studies from Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC); or
    • Business Education Single and Group certificates (BES &GC) Stages I, II, and III from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) in the following subjects:
    • Shorthand III (Minimum 120w.p.m)
    • Typewriting III (50w.p.m)/Certificate in Computerized document processing III
    • Business English III/Communications II
    • Commerce II
    • Office Practice II
    • Secretarial Duties II, and

    • Drafting reports on complaints;
    • Implementing strategies and guidelines on complaints handling;
    • Participating in formal hearings and inquiries on complaints;
    • Updating complaints database; and

    Job Specification

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must;

    • Have a Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B) from a recognized university.
    • Have a Post graduate diploma in Law
    • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate
    • Must have post-graduate experience of three (3) years in a related role

    Public Education and Advocacy Officer II

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Collecting, collating and compiling data on public education and advocacy programmes;
    • Assisting in organizing forums such as meetings, workshops and trainings for public education and advocacy sensitization;
    • Disseminating information on public education and advocacy;
    • Drafting maladministration reports for stakeholders;
    • Participating in creating awareness on maladministration and the role of the commission through public forums and use of print and electronic media; and
    • Drafting reports on public education and advocacy programs and projects.

    Driver II - 2 positions

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Driving the vehicle as authorised;
    • Detecting and reporting vehicle defects on time;
    • Ensuring vehicle cleanliness;
    • Ensuring routine service and maintenance of the vehicle;
    • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle, passengers and goods on and off the road;
    • Maintaining daily work ticket;
    • Carrying out routine checks on vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems and tyre pressure;
    • Timely reporting of accidents and follow up of police abstracts; and
    • Vehicle inspection and keeping up-to-date insurance documents.

    Job Specification

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D or its equivalent;
    • Valid Class BCE Driving License free from any endorsement;
    • Occupational Trade Test Grade III for drivers;
    • Passed Suitability Test for drivers;
    • First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBIT) or any other recognized institution;
    • Certificate of good conduct;
    • Must have 3 years related experience;
    • Attended a refresher course for divers lasting not less than one (1) week within the last three (3) years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBIT) or any other recognised institution, and

    Legal Officer II (Advisory Services)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Opening case files for cases instituted before the Commission;
    • Opening, maintaining and updating case registers;
    • Preparing case files for hearing;
    • Drafting legal opinions and legal briefs;
    • Drafting legal documents/instruments, leases and contracts; and
    • Conducting legal research on pending case files and come up with an opinion to facilitate the justice process.

    Job Specification

    • Have a Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B) from a recognized university;
    • Have Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
    • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate
    • Must have post-graduate experience of three (3) years in a related role
    • Must be a member to a professional Body in good standing
    • Must have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution;
    • Legal drafting skills will be an added advantage
    • Certification in any foreign language will be an added advantage
