    Regional Business Development Officer – Life (Coast & North Eastern)

    PURPOSE:

    Reporting to the Regional Manager, the position holder will be responsible for driving the growth of life insurance business in the Coast and North Eastern regions. It will also involve developing and managing strong relationships with intermediaries, corporate clients, and other key stakeholders to achieve business targets and enhance market presence.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new Group Life business opportunities within the region.
    • Increased Group Life business sales and market share in the Coast region.
    • Sustained organic growth and improved retention rates.

    Intermediary Engagement:

    • Enhanced intermediary engagement and activation, reducing dormancy rates.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers, and other intermediaries.
    • Capacity Building:Conduct training sessions to enhance intermediaries’ understanding of Group Life products and solutions.
    • Performance Monitoring:Track and report on intermediary activity, business performance, and growth metrics.
    • Strategic Alliances:Foster partnerships with key stakeholders in high-potential economic sectors.
    • Market Intelligence:Gather insights on market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform strategy.

    Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behavioural Competencies
    Academic and Professional Requirements

    • Education    Bachelor’s Degree    Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • Professional Qualification    Additional qualification in insurance, sales and marketing will be an added advantage.

    Experience Required:

    • Two years Minimum Relevant experience

    Branch Tender Documentation Officer

    PURPOSE:

    Reporting to the Director, Branch & Distribution, the position holder will be responsible for evaluating, pricing, and setting terms for risk proposals to achieve desirable loss ratio and profitability. The role involves underwriting General Business in a commercially sound manner while ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate the preparation and submission of bids, tenders, and proposals in response to client requirements (both physical and online submissions)
    • Requesting correct bid bond & performance security amounts from the bank
    • Returning bonds for cancellation in cases where tender was unsuccessful.
    • Sending of Authorization Letters, Forwarding Letters and Broker’s statutory requirements
    • Delivery of direct client tenders, handling of customer calls, walk in clients enquires, follow-up on bid & performance bonds/ securities.
    • Tender Business Reporting – Participating in tender opening and advising sales team on outcomes and areas of improvements and updating of the Tender Log Outcome
    • Prepare and maintain tender reports and a tender log tracker (monthly performance reports on tender achievements).
    • Put in place mechanisms to build and sustain good relations with clients and intermediaries.
    • Support the business development and retention teams in executing sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including underwriters, actuaries, and legal teams, to ensure bid submissions meet regulatory and company standards.
    • Respond to all incoming calls, letters, emails from clients/brokers within set TAT’s and attend to walk in clients promptly and professionally. Ensure all issues complaints are promptly and pro-actively resolved.
    • Provide monthly intelligence reports on prevailing market rates and terms.
    • Ensure all CIC Group and subsidiary renewable tender documents remain current and up to date.

    Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behavioural Competencies
    Academic and Professional Requirements

    • Education    Bachelor’s Degree.    Degree in business or related field.
    • Professional Qualification    Progress towards CII or IIK is an advantage
    • Proficiency in MS Office and other applications.

    Experience Required:

    • One year Minimum experience in similar role   
    • Exposure to procurement processes is a plus.
