Main purpose of the position:

The Steel Detailing Checker plays a crucial role in quality control by ensuring that all details on all drawings are accurate, complete, and in compliance with design specifications, project requirements, and industry standards. They are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and correcting the models and drawings created by other detailers for quality assurance, collaborating with the relevant stakeholders, and maintaining organized records of all drawings/models including revisions.

Key responsibilities:

Drawing Review and Verification

• Thoroughly check and verify all detailed Engineering Drawings (General arrangement drawings, shop drawings/fabrication drawings, and installation drawings) prepared by detailers.
• Verify dimensions, material specifications, connection details, and other critical design elements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Check & Verify the accuracy of all fabrication/shop drawings and the corresponding material quantities

Ensure all revisions on details are verified and accurately incorporated.

Quality Assurance:

• Conduct systematic reviews to verify that all detailing outputs conform to design specifications.
• Verify compliance with relevant codes of practice, standards and project-specific requirements.
• Identify and flag any discrepancies, missing information, or errors in drawings or specifications and collaborate with detailers to promptly resolve any identified issues.
• Work with the team to ensure high levels of accuracy and consistency of details across all drawings.
• Communicate feedback and suggestions for improvement to enhance the quality assurance process.

Project Coordination: 

• Collaborate closely with Design Engineers, Detailers, Site Engineers and Projects Manager to understand project specifications and requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of checks and revisions for reference and auditing purposes.
• Provide support to the detailers to ensure completion of required drawings in a timely manner for overall excellence.

Documentation and Record-Keeping 

• Maintain records of checked drawings.
• Ensure proper documentation of all revisions and modifications.
• Generate and maintain checklists, reports, and logs for all verified drawings to support internal audits and client reviews.

Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in reviews and audits to improve detailing standards and reduce errors
• Contribute to training sessions for detailers, focusing on common errors and best practices for accuracy.
• Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications required:

• Minimum academic qualification: Degree in Civil/Structural Draughtsmanship from a credible institution.
• Qualifications as an added advantage:  Higher Diploma in Civil /Structural Engineering
• Professional registration: EBK/IEK

Experience required:

• General work experience (years): 5-8 years experience in detailing and/or checking Structural Steelwork drawings in a steel fabrication company.
• Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): 2-3 years as a Detailing Checker of Structural Steel Buildings including Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings using TEKLA & AutoCAD.

Main purpose of the position:

Responsible for handling and operating the CNC lathe machine as per set procedure and deliver the expected outcome

Key responsibilities:

• Perform tool changes and off sets
• Document all information pertaining to the setup and operation of each job assigned
• Operate the CNC lathes using Mazatrol Controls and G and M code
• Perform CNC Lathes operations or any other task assigned in an environment to produce a quality part that meets all print requirements
• Must be able to read and understand drawings, able to make set-up’s including gauges, micrometers, select required tooling and edit programs with minimum assistance from shop leads
• Perform preventive maintenance as per established schedule
• Document Maintenance and Repairs in Daily Log/work order
• Maintain workplace as per established 6S standards
• Comply with company safety guidelines and procedures.
• Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications required:

• Minimum academic qualification:  Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Qualifications as an added advantage:
• Professional registration:

Experience required:

• General work experience (years): 3 Years a Machine Operator
• Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): 2+ years of hands on experience operating and setting-up a CNC lathe machines
• Industry:  Manufacturing

Key competencies and skills:

• Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometre, calliper, and height gauge
• Ability to read, interpret, understand drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specifications
• Must be able to set up and operate CNC lathes efficiently
• Knowledge of machine programming language Mazatrol/Fanuc
• Knowledge in AutoCAD Technology
• Planning & organizing skills
• Effective communication skills
