Health Informatics Officer/Programmer at Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK)

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Information Technology.
• A minimum of 5 years of health informatics experience
• A broad and extensive knowledge of IT principles, methods and techniques; analytical skills and superior knowledge of project management principles to manage projects and work with multi-disciplinary teams
• An expert knowledge in one or more IT domains in order to provide advice to clients and senior management
• Experience in the design, programming and administration of transactional databases (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
• Experience in the Windows Server and Linux Server Administration
• Experience in networking & hardware maintenance
• Experience in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining knowledge management systems that facilitate data use for decision making
• Demonstrable experience in development and implementation of web and m-health based solutions.
• Experience in working with IQcare and IQtools will be an added advantage.
• Experience in programming skills in PHP, JavaScript CSS, XML, net (C#, ASP)
• Working knowledge of DATIM & PEPFAR reporting systems Ability to work effectively in a busy, high pressure team environment
• Ability to prioritize workload and demonstrate outcomes on strict deadline.
• Strong oral and written communications skills

Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of the MERL Advisor, he/she will be:

• CHAP Uzima point person in EMR implementations.
• Work with all regional teams in supporting and troubleshooting of EMRs at implementing health facility levels.
• Support information technology infrastructure and data management tools
• Facilitate implementation of EMR at implementing sites as approved by CHAP Uzima and MOH and ensure technical support is provided as needed
• Coordinate technical M&E needs at implementing sites (computers and hardware)
• Build the data culture at health facilities to improve data demand and data use
• Increase Health Facilities demand for quality information, methods, and tools, and facilitation of information use in decision making
• To develop and maintain an up-to-date M&E Database of various programmes and projects particularly CHAK-HIV project
• To provide support in the development and application of M&E Tools
• To participate in the relevant Health Sector HMIS/M&E Technical Working Group
• Any other duties as may be assigned.
