Assistant Research Scientist (Molecular Biology/biotechnology) at Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participating in problem identification;
• Developing research concepts;
• Designing experiments;
• Collecting and analyzing data and preparing technical reports;
• Provision of scientific advisory services in the area of expertise.
• Participating in seminars and short courses on research practice.
• Identify problems, plan and implement research projects with minimal supervision from senior Research scientists.
• Assisting in initiation, implementation and evaluation of research projects.
• Dissemination of research findings
• Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Minimum Requirements for Appointment

For direct appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
• BSc Degree second class Honours (upper division) in Molecular biology/Biotechnology or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Must be computer literate.
