Accountant at The Kenya BioVax Institute

Job Purpose:

To process and record financial transactions in the book of accounts to identify, measure and communicate economic information through preparation of financial reports.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/ Finance option), Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
• Passed Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Examination.

Membership to a relevant professional body such as Institute of Public Accountants (ICPAK) Kenya, Association of Chartered certified accountants (ACCA) or equivalent.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAPS) including the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) techniques in accounting for Institute’s finances, assets, revenue, expenditure and costs;
• Ensure timely processing of payments and submission of statutory returns;
• Execute verification of payment vouchers and committal documents in accordance with laid down financial rules and regulations;
• Ensure timely receipting of all revenues of the Institute;
• Prepare bank reconciliation statements in a timely manner;
• Participate diligently in various committees as shall be appointed or tasked from time to time;
• Maintain safe custody of Institute records and assets under his/her jurisdiction;
• Prepare quarterly financial reports, annual financial reports and physical verification of assets;
• Maintain safe custody of all accountable documents; and
• Implement internal and external audit recommendations.
