    Bids and Submissions Officer

    Roles and responsibilities

    In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

    Support the submissions (legal directories and awards) team, including but not limited to:

    • Assisting with the preparation of submissions;
    • Assisting with related legal directory and awards research;
    • Maintaining databases of legal directory and awards rankings and other information;
    • Developing communication for legal directories and awards announcements; and
    • Maintaining the calendar of submissions for various awards.
    • Supporting the implementation of the legal directories’ strategy, including providing support to ALN firms.
    • Supporting the deal collection process.
    • Supporting the marketing and communications team, including on marketing and firm campaigns related to awards and rankings.
    • Support the bids (proposals) team where necessary, including but not limited to:
    • Proposal development and submission;
    • Liaising with clients and external vendors for bid clarifications;
    • Providing recommendations on bid/no-bid decisions based on evaluation criteria;
    • Maintaining CVs and related lawyer information databases;
    • Maintaining firmwide and ALN experiences database;
    • Following up, recording and compiling proposal-related feedback to improve future submissions; and
    • Assisting as required on related automation processes.
    • Supporting the marketing and communications team, including on marketing and firm campaigns related to awards and rankings.
    • Conducting researching as required.
    • Formatting documents as required.

    Location: The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

    Experience and personal qualities

    The following experience is preferred:

    • Degree qualification (preferably in Business, Marketing or Communications).
    • At least 2-3 years of experience in a legal marketing or business development role.
    • Experience working on legal directories submissions and a good understanding of the legal market is an advantage.
    • Proficient in the use of IT Systems, including Microsoft Office packages.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly with a range of people from diverse backgrounds.

    The following personal qualities are preferred:

    • The suitable candidate should have strong research and analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
    • A strategic and creative thinker with proven experience of working with a business development team.
    • Be highly organised, have excellent time management skills and can work under pressure.
    • A commitment to teamwork and working in a professional manner.
    • Ability to develop creative ideas and transform them into practical reality.
    • Action-orientated and proactive.
