Communication Intern - Drug Control & Crime Prevention at United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to:

• Support with the identification, review and documentation of human-interest stories and other relevant information for the purpose of effective communications;
• Engage in outreach and communication efforts to promote and support various advocacy and communication campaigns and activities ;
• Support with the coordination of communication related activities to ensure cohesive communication outputs;
• Support writing, reviewing and updating social media content to raise visibility of the Programme’s work;
• Perform other tasks as necessary.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for this internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

• Basic knowledge of design and video editing tools like Adobe illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, PremierPro and Canva;  
• Interest in digital media and communications campaigns;
• Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills. • Be computer literate in standard software applications;
• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
• No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
• Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent)( preferably in the areas of Communication, Journalism, Marketing or equivalent).
