Cost Accountant at Workforce Africa

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis and Reporting:

• Analyze manufacturing costs, provide periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare cost estimates of new and existing products.
• Conduct cost variance analysis and identify trends in costs.

Inventory Management:

• Monitor and review inventory costs, ensuring accurate valuation and proper classification.
• Perform inventory audits and coordinate physical inventory counts.
• Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine the effects on cost.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models related to cost management.
• Monitor budget vs. actual results and provide insights into variances.

Cost Control and Process Improvement:

• Identify cost reduction opportunities and recommend improvements to reduce costs and enhance profitability.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, and other departments to optimize the cost-effectiveness of operations.

Financial Analysis:

• Analyze financial performance, product profitability, and business unit performance.
• Support decision-making by providing cost information and financial data analysis.

Compliance and Auditing:

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
• Prepare documentation for audits and work with auditors as required.

• System and Process Maintenance:

• Maintain cost accounting systems, procedures, and controls.
• Continuously review and improve cost accounting processes and systems for accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
• Proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, or similar role in manufacturing or production environments.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial analysis.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
