Data Product Owner at Pezesha

We are looking for a rockstar data nerd with solid product management skills. You know data and how it should be used, you’re familiar with techniques and approaches to data, but you can ground your ambitions in solid product strategies. A natural leader with a proven track record of building amazing products, preferably data-oriented projects and products from the data-warehousing.

Primary responsibilities;

• Provide leadership, business development and strategy in data related products, data roadmap and partnerships to optimise the company’s data revenue strategy
• Maintain and grow our data product portfolio. You’ll be responsible for our existing data support infrastructure, you’ll help mature and maintain these areas for optimal business value.
•  Lead the way to a richer data infrastructure. You’ll be passionate about data and the value it brings. You’ll be an advocate for new ways of doing things and champion experiments with non-traditional data points (e.g. behavioural data).
• Act as an ambassador for the products internally and externally, and as the first point of contact with the rest of the business for the data products
•  Collaborate and prioritise. You’ll work with key stakeholders to translate business requirements into user stories for the development team to implement, you’ll rigorously prioritise the work to make sure we’re focusing on the most impactful areas.
• Liaise and support. You’ll work with individuals across our Product and Engineering teams, advising on best practices and pushing us to take a data-first approach to our decisions.
• Passionately automate. As someone who understands the power of data, you’ll seek opportunities across the company to strip back human-heavy processes and automate workflows to deliver consistent results with utmost efficiency.
• Support Agile best practices amongst the team
• Business data analytics and business intelligence to business decisions
• Assist in the improvement of our credit scoring approaches and models to ensure robustness
• Data checks and related audits to ensure data integrity, data accuracy and data completeness.
• Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
• Manage and lead various technical teams to execute the data strategy of the business
• Any other related tasks assigned by the CEO in relation to the responsibilities and your role described herein.

Must haves

• Minimum 2 years of experience in data analytics, management of third party data sources, application product development, data quality management, information architecture and governance design and implementation, with significant influence on overall direction of data product management
• Experience in the development of packaged data assets / products
• At least 3 years of experience in data cleaning: ensuring the data collected is in a usable format and diagnose when it’s not: a good level of Quality Assurance and data cleaning.
• Excellent communication skills: you will work closely with the internal and external stakeholders to define partner requirements/needs, defining the right data solutions and communicating implementation progress to the various stakeholders at any given time
• Minimum required education level: undergraduate degree in BS in Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
• Ability to analyse business needs: you can think critically about a business, understand its key drivers and be able to dynamically model different scenarios
• Experience in managing teams and products: we collaborate and so you must be able to work with others
• Attention to detail: Meticulous, Fastidious, thorough
• Proficiency with Agile tooling (JIRA, Trello, Azure DevOps…)
• At least 3 years expertise with querying or managing an SQL Database
• At least 3 years Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheet and pivot tables, charts, dashboards
• At least 2 years experience in working with data in one or more of the following: R, Python

Added advantage to have

• At least 2 years experience in the FinTech: or a proven interest in the space
• 1 year minimum experience in using R/ SPSS: preferably within a business context
• 1 year minimum experience in data science  preferably within a business context
• Agile mindset: we have scrums, triage and stand ups so great if you understand the workflow
• Knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau, MS Power BI, SPLUNK
