Investment Analyst/Associate at Untapped Global

About the role

Untapped is hiring an Investment Analyst/Associate who embraces alternative financing models and sees them as the future for wealth creation in emerging markets. Our Investment Analyst/Associate will have a future looking approach to investing with a global mindset, understanding how to locally implement the strategy in emerging markets while connecting with the needs and wants of our global investors. This person will be key to the success of Untapped mission to connect global capital to where it’s needed most.

Our Investment Analyst/Associate will understand that data is at the core of every decision we make and use this to build and grow our investment strategy in Africa and other emerging markets. 

The Investment Analyst/Associate will assist the Senior Investment Officer with setting up best practice processes and ensure a high-quality standard of investments. At the same time, relationship management is key to ensure the sustainability of the growth of our assets and hence soft skills and travel could be required. 

Key duties and responsibilities

• Provide support in the origination, due diligence, structuring, and negotiation of new investments;
• Contribute to marketing activities including preparation of pitch books and proposals;
• Prepare and review transaction documents that help with conducting all aspects of the Due Diligence process (incl. financial analysis and modelling);
• Assist with the development and implementation of investment policies and processes in-line with the Untapped overall strategy;
• Assist in other deal or strategy related activities as the need may arise (research, reporting, etc.) to garner sufficient sectoral knowledge;
• Work with the Data, Tech and Private Capital Markets teams to build the growth strategy for Untapped as a whole.

What you will bring to Untapped

• 3-6 years working in VC, PE or an applicable industry
• Experience working in emerging markets
• A Bachelors or higher in finance, management or applicable degree
• A passion for fintech and innovation, and a strong curiosity to learn new things and experiment
• A creative and entrepreneurial mindset
• Strong critical, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with large amounts of data to make rigorous decisions
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work remotely and autonomously
