Overseeing and providing guidance and advice on the day-to-day management of the company including compliance with legal, governance and statutory requirements
Providing technical leadership to teams and legal advice in the department on matters relating to the Company, Labour Laws and Industrial Relations within the relevant Legal Framework
Overseeing the formulation of a sound contract management process from tendering to contract preparation, negotiation and execution
Formulating, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of work-plans related to the formulation of an enabling framework for litigation, compliance, contracts and conveyancing matters
Managing drafting of legal documents as required and smooth implementation of all conveyancing matters to ensure perfection of documentation and securities
Providing legal advice and assistance on all relevant aspects of government regulation and applicable law
Managing the Legal Opinions and Legal Interpretations on various matters as required including interpretation of court and arbitral rulings affecting the Company
Monitoring developments in relevant law, conduct legal research and participate in outreach programs to strengthen corporate governance and improve the quality of service delivery
Managing performance in the Legal Services Department and participating in organizational performance reviews, business process improvements aimed at improving organizational effectiveness
Participating in the recruitment and selection, orientation, induction and Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations as and when required
Reviewing incidents of violations against organizational policy and regulations; handle disputes and take appropriate action in line with approved policies, procedures and regulations
Preparing concept papers, board papers, periodic progress reports and annual reports as necessary
Person Specifications
A minimum period of twelve (12) years relevant work experience, four (4) years of which must have been in a managerial role
Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution
Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education
Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution
Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks (cumulative)
Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
Certified Secretary (K)
Membership to relevant professional body – LSK and ICS (K)
Proficiency in computer applications
Fulfilled the provisions of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Keny
