    Part-Time Clinical Instructors - Medical School/ MBCHB & Dental Technology Programme

    Qualification

    To qualify for appointment a candidate must have the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree holders in the relevant field with at least an Upper Second Class honors and be registered/registerable for a relevant Master’s degree programme.
    • Must be registered and licensed with the relevant professional regulatory body.,
    • At least 2-3 years of clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
    • Prior experience in clinical instruction, supervision, or mentorship is an added advantage.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to assess and evaluate students; proficiency in clinical procedures and patient care.
    • Knowledge of clinical assessment tools, familiarity with university curriculum guidelines, and the ability to collaborate with healthcare teams and academic institutions.

    Key responsibilities also include

    • Meet with students at the beginning of each trimester to discuss clinical rotation requirements.
    • Clearly communicate expectations for upcoming rotations.
    • Serve as role models in professional and ethical practice.
    • Supervise students to ensure clinical learning objectives are met.
    • Assess students in collaboration with hospital co-assessors and submit assessment tools for documentation.
    • Advocate for students and the university within clinical settings.
    • Ensure students adhere to clinical rotation rules and guidelines.
    • Coordinate trimester assessment schedules with the university.
    • Follow up on required documentation and submit necessary forms to relevant departments.
    • Liaise with hospital officers to identify co-assessors for student evaluations.
    • Facilitate assessments in collaboration with relevant university departments.
    • Conduct practical demonstrations of clinical procedures.
    • Lead clinical training sessions in hospital settings.
    • Guide students in conducting case studies as part of their learning process.

    • Successful candidates will be engaged on contractual basis as Adjunct Faculty. These positions will attract a competitive remuneration package.
    • Successful candidates will be retained in the Mount Kenya University database for a period of 6 years subject to satisfactory performance of allocated duties and responsibilities.
