    Registered Nurse II- (Palliative Nursing)

    Duties and responsibilities
    Reporting to the Nurse In-Charge in the area of deployment, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

    • Delivering palliative care services that are tailored to each patient.
    • Promoting and supporting patient and family autonomy in decisions affecting symptom control and quality of life.
    • Responding to symptom control issues promptly, evaluating interventions with fellow nurse and multidisciplinary team members as appropriate, and adjust as required.
    • Evaluating care outcomes and documenting as required.
    • Completing a holistic assessment of needs in collaboration with the patient.
    • Developing and implementing a tailored, appropriate care plan in consultation with the patient and family e.g., discharge planning, expected outcomes.
    • Creating an environment where the patient and their family are actively supported and empowered to participate in their care.
    • Facilitating the provision of psychological and spiritual care.
    • Facilitating provision of counselling services on end-stage disease process and educating patients and families on the next steps.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned.

    Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

    • Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN)/Kenya Registered Nursing (KRN) from a recognized institution.
    • Higher Diploma in Palliative Nursing, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) will be an added advantage.
    • Registration by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Valid practicing license as a Palliative Nurse from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
