Manage, supervise and coordinate technical services and technical project teams
Prioritize project activities in-country, and provide thought leadership and technical support as needed to accelerate a support activity.
Regularly liaise with the Power Africa Coordinator's Office, USAID missions, and other USG agencies, as appropriate.
Maintain strong relationships with relevant regional organizations, such as the African Development Bank, and with private sector companies and host country governments.
Facilitate/lead activities on increased connections and productive use of energy
Facilitate/lead activities aimed at improving operational and commercial effectiveness of distribution utilities
Facilitate the development of generation and transmission projects and the development of enabling environment policy, legal and regulatory instruments
Facilitate/support private investment participation in off-grid and on-grid projects
Assist Power Africa in analyzing potential transactions to select projects most relevant to meet Power Africa's goals, including advising on which projects should be prioritized
Lead preparation of weekly summaries of key outcomes or new developments in the power sector
Lead preparation of required deliverables for USAID, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and other reports
University degree in engineering, energy, economics, law, or related field
A Master's Degree is preferred
Minimum 10 years' experience implementing energy programs. Africa work experience is preferred.
Extensive network in East Africa's power sector including public and private parties and the development community required.
Prior experience with donor project management policies, procedures and reporting requirements, particularly USAID is highly desired.
Strong writing and communication skills in English is essential. Excellent skills in written reports and power point presentations is a must.
