    Clinical Nutritionist/Dietitian

    Roles and Responsibilities 

    Nutrition Services 

    • Deliver nutrition therapy integrated with the patient’s clinical goals as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. 
    • Calculate and prescribe nutrition orders for enteral and parenteral feeding based on clinical indications and nutritional needs. 

    Nutrition Counselling 

    • Screen, assess, and continuously evaluate patient nutrition needs and restrictions. 
    • Develop individualized dietary care plans and provide targeted nutrition counselling. 
    • Offer age-specific guidance to patients and groups on nutrition and healthy eating to improve their overall quality of life. 

    Diet Plan Formulation 

    •  Monitor and document nutritional status using established guidelines. 
    •  Consult with medical staff to determine and meet the unique nutritional needs of each patient. 

    Nutrition Education 

    • Educate patients and families on dietary principles, food selection, meal preparation, and recommended modifications. 
    • Encourage long-term behavioral changes through clear and compassionate nutrition education. 

    Compliance with Policies and Standards 

    • Monitor food service operations for compliance with nutritional, safety, and quality standards. 
    • Develop and maintain up-to-date educational resources for patients and staff. 

    Menu Development and Standardization 

    • Lead the development and standardization of recipes and menus tailored to the nutritional needs of various patient groups. 
    • Ensure meals meet prescribed diet plans and are acceptable in terms of palatability and appearance. 

    Training and Development 

    • Mentor dietetic interns and provide in-service training to clinical staff. 
    • Participate in continuous professional development through seminars, workshops, and professional networking. 

    Qualifications: 

    Education & Experience: 

    Minimum Qualifications 

    • Diploma or degree in Nutrition from a recognized institution or university 
    • Valid license from the Nutrition Association of Kenya 
    • Minimum of 2 years’ continuous experience in an acute care hospital

    Medical Officer Interns

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    • Admissions processes: Will be the first point of contact with patients to ensure clerking, accurate and efficient diagnosis and management initiated for all patients under the supervision of Medical Officers, Senior Registrars, or Consultants. 
    • Monitoring and Care for Patients: Will be participating in daily ward rounds whilst documenting and executing management plans as well as appraising consultants on patient progress. 
    • Surgical Skills Acquisition: Will acquire surgical and obstetric procedures in line with the KMPDC logbook/guidelines with a view to understanding and participating in preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative care. 
    • Quality Initiatives: Will implement the clinical procedures required for patient care as per the JCI, Kaizen, and other quality guidelines. 
    • Participation in Continuous Professional Development activities: Will attend and present in CMEs or journal club presentations to enhance self-directed learning and to acquire basic research principles 

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from an accredited medical institution. 
    • Must hold a valid practicing internship license from KMPDC. 
    • A good understanding of safety guidelines is mandatory. 
    • Computer Knowledge is essential.

    Clinical Nurse Instructor Children’s Hospital

    Roles & Responsibilities: 

    • Instruction and Training 
    • Develop and deliver nursing education programs and clinical training sessions for students and staff.

    Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements 

    • Must be a Registered Nurse with at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) 
    • Higher Diploma in a related specialization e.g. Paediatrics, Paediatric Critical Care is an added advantage. 
    • Certification in nursing education or a related field (preferred). 
    • Must hold valid licensure from the Nursing Council of Kenya. 
    • Minimum of 7 years of clinical nursing experience.
