    Corporate Affairs & Communications Assistant

    • The job holder will support the execution of strategic communication initiatives, ensuring the University maintains a strong brand reputation, fosters internal engagement and leads corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. This role involves media relations, content development, Digital Communications, stakeholder engagement and internal communication.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Write and edit articles, blogs, features, and op-eds.
    • Develop and execute social media strategies across platforms.
    • Manage online community engagement and brand partnerships.
    • Develop photo and video content in line with corporate messaging.
    • Livestreaming of internal University events in coordination with the ICT department.
    • Content development of engagements profiling the VC & CEO.
    • Develop event communication plans and execute branding strategies.
    • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and official statements.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
    • 3 years of experience in:
    • Creative and article writing, speech writing, and editorial skills.
    • Multichannel digital content development, including social media, blogs, newsletters, and video scripting.
    • Editorial skills, with the ability to proofread, fact-check, and refine content for clarity and impact.
    • Speechwriting with the ability to craft compelling talking points for executives, keynote speakers, and public figures.
    • Managing live coverage of events.

    Carpentry and Joinery Technician

    • The job holder will be responsible for performing a wide variety of carpentry duties across the university campuses. This role involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of wooden structures, furniture, and fixtures, as well as ensuring the university buildings are in optimal condition. The Carpenter will work within the Central Services Department, collaborating with other technical staff to support the daily operational needs of the university

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Install, repair, and maintain wooden structures, including doors, windows, frames, cabinetry, shelving, furniture, and partitions.
    • Construct custom furniture and fixtures as required by different departments and offices.
    • Measure and cut materials according to project specifications, ensuring accurate and high-quality craftsmanship.
    • Assist with the design and planning of carpentry projects as directed by the Central Services Manager.
    • Ensure all carpentry work complies with safety standards, university policies, and building codes.
    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of carpentry work across campus buildings to ensure safety and functionality.
    • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring materials and tools are stored properly and safely.
    • Assist in setting up, remodeling, or refurbishing spaces within the university as needed, including offices, classrooms, and common areas.
    • Work closely with other trades (plumbing, electrical, etc.) to support larger construction and renovation projects.
    • Document work performed and materials used for project tracking and budgeting purposes.
    • Respond to emergency repair requests promptly and efficiently.
    • Adhere to university safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
    • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Artisan Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification from an accredited TVET institution
    • Minimum of (3) years relevant working experience as a carpenter, preferably in an institutional or commercial setting.
    • Basic knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication will be an added advantage.

    Coordinator, Faculty Development

    The job holder will be responsible for developing, implementing and facilitating faculty development strategies, programs and initiatives

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and implement long-term faculty development strategies aligned with institutional goals.
    • Lead faculty mentorship programs and provide personalised coaching on teaching effectiveness.
    • Guide faculty on pedagogical best practices, active learning strategies, and student engagement techniques.
    • Evaluate faculty development initiatives using data, faculty feedback, and best practices to improve offerings.
    • Design and facilitate impactful workshops on innovative teaching, curriculum design, and assessment methods.
    • Contribute to the development of institutional policies on faculty teaching and learning.
    • Partner with academic leadership, deans, and faculty committees to enhance teaching and learning initiatives.
    • Support faculty in adopting new instructional technologies and digital teaching tools.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field from an accredited and recognised institution. PhD in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field is an added advantage.
    • At least 5 years of experience in faculty development, instructional design, or academic training in a higher education setting.
    • Experience leading institution-wide faculty development programs.

    WORK EXPERIENCE

    OTHER SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Strong knowledge of teaching and learning best practices, curriculum design, and faculty mentoring.
    • Demonstrated ability to use data and assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of faculty development initiatives.
    • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), educational technologies, and digital learning platforms.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills to drive faculty training initiatives.
