    Team Leader- Production

    Purpose of the Role

    To lead and coordinate Sorting Staff to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality waste sorting operations within the Material Recovery Facility.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Lead, motivate, and support Sorting Staff to achieve daily production targets and maintain high-quality sorting standards.
    • Enforce safety procedures, ensure proper PPE usage, conduct regular safety meetings, and report incidents while implementing corrective actions.
    • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of sorting equipment, conveyors, forklifts, wheel loaders, sorting areas, and bale storage spaces.
    • Implement and monitor quality control procedures, including checks on dabras to ensure sorting accuracy.
    • Develop sorting schedules and coordinate with the Sorting Plant Manager, Sorting Plant Supervisor, and Logistics to ensure smooth material flow and minimize residual waste.
    • Maintain proper housekeeping within all sorting zones.
    • Support the sale of recyclables by planning for deliveries/collections and ensuring accurate volume documentation aligned with agreed prices.
    • Prepare and manage petty cash requisitions for sorting-related activities.
    • Assist in planning preventive and scheduled maintenance by updating equipment checklists and ensuring timely replacement of worn-out parts.
    • Maintain accurate records of sorting numbers, quality reports, and staff attendance.
    • Ensure correct and timely data entry; analyze data to identify performance gaps, propose improvements, and communicate findings clearly during team briefings.
    • Collaborate with other departments to improve operational efficiency and ensure seamless coordination across the facilites

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience

    Education:

    • Diploma/Degree in any related field; OR
    • KCSE Certificate – Grade B and above.

    Experience:

    • Proven experience supervising, leading, or controlling a production team.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Sheets and general computer literacy.

    Business Understanding:

    • Knowledge of manpower utilization.
    • Ability to identify and separate recyclable waste from non-recyclable materials.

    Skills Required:

    • Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Data entry accuracy and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Senior Mechanic- Automotive

    Purpose of the Role

    The Senior Mechanic – Automotive is responsible for leading the workshop team in maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the functionality and reliability of company trucks, plant equipment, and mechanical systems. The role ensures high equipment uptime, adherence to maintenance standards, and efficient workshop operations.

    Key Responsibilities.

    • Lead and supervise the workshop team to ensure high-quality maintenance and repairs for all company trucks and plant equipment.
    • Ensure strong equipment performance, targeting 85%+ daily uptime and maintaining long-term reliability at 95%+.
    • Conduct diagnostics, troubleshoot faults, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
    • Coordinate procurement and availability of spare parts and consumables with the procurement and stores teams.
    • Ensure proper workshop housekeeping, safety practices, and adherence to company procedures.
    • Provide preventive maintenance guidance to drivers and the logistics team to improve uptime and reduce costs.
    • Lead the acquisition process for new automotive machinery and support the Logistics Manager when required.
    • Monitor team performance and support continuous improvement and skills development.
    • Prepare and support in workshop budget needs while ensuring cost-effective maintenance operations.

     Education

    • Degree, Diploma, or Vocational Training in Automotive Engineering.

    Relevant Previous Experience

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a workshop supervisor or Senior Mechanic.
    • Strong knowledge of truck systems, heavy machinery, hydraulics, and auto-electrical systems.
    • Valid driving license, including capability to operate up to 10-wheeler trucks.
    • Ability to interpret technical manuals, work orders, and SOPs.
    • Strong adherence to health and safety guidelines.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Hands-on technical competence with proven diagnostic ability.
    • Good project management and data analysis skills.
    • Ability to make data-driven decisions and apply root cause analysis.
    • Open, proactive communication style.

    • Ability to make swift, informed decisions to reduce MTTR.
