    E-learning Development and Project Assistant

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • The Individual Contractor will provide e-learning and capacity development support across CDTU’s projects, guided and overseen by CDTU staff and the overall supervision of the OiC Head of the Unit, CDTU, such as UN-Habitat Learn, Global Urban Lectures, and SDG Cities.
    • More precisely, the consultant will undertake the following tasks:
    • Managing UN-Habitat Learn support requests.
    • Any other tasks as required

    Qualifications/special skills

    • High school diploma with two years of experience. Candidates with First Level Degree will be exempted from the 2 years of Experience.
    • A minimum of 6 months of relevant professional experience in e-learning or project assistance is required
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines is an added advantage
    • Proven experience working within a multi-cultural environment, and capacity to work in a team, to manage projects for specific target audiences from start to end and to deliver concrete products based on tight timelines is desirable.

    Principal Coordination Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Under the overall supervision of the Director of ERSKID, the Principal Coordination Officer, will perform the following:
    • Oversees the preparation of UN-Habitat’s biennial flagship report, the World Cities Report, assessing global state of urban development, to be launched at the World Urban Forum - Coordinates UN-Habitat’s global urban monitoring and reporting through data and statistical programs aligned with SDG 11 and the New Urban Agenda including through partnerships at the World Urban Forum
    • Coordinates and delivers the implementation of a corporate data strategy to implement UN-Habitat’s strategic plan across Divisions and teams
    • Participates in international, regional or national meetings and provides programmatic/substantive expertise on an issue or holds programmatic/substantive and organizational discussions with representatives of other institutions
    • Fosters teamwork and communication among staff in relevant projects and programs related to research, data and innovation.
    • Leads team members efforts to collect and analyze data and provides insight to identify trends or patterns for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. Ensures that everyone can discover, access, integrate and share the data they need.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in urban planning, economics, public administration, social sciences or related area is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, administration, logistics, financial management, budget or related field is required. Experience in leading urban policy research, analysis, and knowledge is desirable.
    • Experience in global urban monitoring and reporting is desirable.
    • Experience of organizing and/or working with intergovernmental bodies advising on policy trends and best practice innovations is desirable.
    • Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Senior Technical Adviser, Senior Programme Officer, Human Settlements

    Responsibilities

    • Takes the lead to develop, implement and evaluate assigned programmes/projects; directs subordinates in programme/project development, implementation, monitoring and assessment; directs review of relevant documents and reports; identifies priorities, problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and initiates follow-up actions.
    • Ensures implementation of gender mainstreaming guidelines by assessing the implications for men and women of any planned action, including legislation, policies or programmes, in all areas and at all levels.
    • Coordinates policy development; reviews the assessments of issues and trends, preparation of evaluation or research activities and studies.
    • Provides technical advice on National Urban Policies, governance and related, by undertaking policy analysis, developing tools and guides, responding to country demand for advisory services and developing project proposals.
    • Advises on the development and implementation of National Urban Policies, governance related, by preparing concept notes, project documents, presentations and speeches, and advising on internal and external capacity development in coordination with other UN-Habitat thematic branches and offices.
    • Directs substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations.
    • Manages outreach activities; designs and conducts training workshops, seminars, makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.
    • Leads field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries.
    • Provides technical support on resource mobilization (preparation of concept notes and project proposals), budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements) and ensures preparation of related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget).
    • Serves as an effective spokesperson and establishes collaboration and partnership with key officials at all levels inside and outside the organization.
    • Ensures effective utilization, supervision and development of staff; Guides, evaluates and mentors staff.
    • Leads team members efforts to collect and analyze data and provides insight to identify trends or patterns for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. Ensures that everyone can discover, access, integrate and share the data they need.
    • May perform other duties as required.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, public/business administration, policy, law, urban/regional planning, urbanism, civil engineering, sustainable urban development or related area is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of urban policy, urban and territorial development, urban basic services and infrastructure, housing, land management, urban transport or any other field that is relevant for sustainable urban development or related area is required.
    • Experience of at least five (5) years within the ministry of a national government responsible for human settlements and urban issues is required.
    • Experience in substantive servicing of expert group meetings or commissions or intergovernmental bodies at the regional or global level is desirable. Experience in organizing workshops/missions and developing relations with governments and international partners is desirable.
    • Experience in government, parliament or international organizations is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
