    MCH Nurse

    Key Responsibilities:

    Neonatal Health:

    • Monitor newborn health and identify any potential complications.
    • Monitor breastfeeding and offer guidance on other nutrition options.
    • Provide linkage with Nutrition for vulnerable Neonates as per assessment.
    • Administer essential neonatal interventions, such as treatment of common ailments and vaccinations.

    Maternal Health:

    • Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including health assessments, counseling, and education.
    • Assist with normal deliveries and conduct emergency deliveries for clients presenting in second stage at the clinic.
    • Provide postnatal care, including counseling on breastfeeding, family planning, and newborn care.
    • Identify and manage and/or refer high risk conditions during pregnancy and postpartum periods.
    • Perform essential procedures such as blood pressure monitoring, fetal heart rate monitoring, and vaginal examinations.
    • Provide Maternal EPI services (Tetanus injections) as per schedule.
    • Offer family planning counseling and services, including long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs).
    • Provide post-abortion care and cervical cancer screening and treatment services.

    Child Health:

    • Provide immunization services according to the Expanded Program of immunization (EPI) schedule.

    • Conduct growth monitoring and promote optimal child development through child welfare clinic (CWC).
    • Provide nutritional counseling and support.

    Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
    • Submit timely reports on maternal, newborn, and child health indicators.

    Training and Supervision:

    • Participate in training and capacity-building activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Supervise and mentor junior staff.

    Community Outreach:

    • Conduct in-facility health education sessions on maternal, newborn, and child health topics.
    • Participate in community outreach activities to promote health-seeking behaviors on needs basis.
    • Together with the nurse and clinician, organize for adequate clinic coverage when required.
    • Carry out any other additional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

    Sanitation Worker

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct supervision of the Hospital and Environmental cleaning team ensuring adequate coverage and man hours are achieved
    • Provide on Job mentorship of the hospital and environmental cleaning team
    • Based on a given patient-diagnosis, collaborates with the medical team to evaluate the need and support for IPC implementation, if needed, for transmission-based precautions (air, droplet and contact)
    • In collaboration with the Hospital Nursing officer in charge, implement transmission-based precautions for air, droplet and contact transmissible diseases when indicated, and monitor adherence
    • Provide regular clinical and technical supervision, training and support to the staff on IPC related issues using existing tools such as audits, checklists, or surveillance
    • Ensure that organizational aspects in the facility are respected (bed spacing, number of handwashing stations etc…), the correct ‘clean and dirty flows’ inside the healthcare facility and together with Nursing officer in charge and ensure requirements are available in the health facilities
    • Participate and coordinate actively in other group/ as Antimicrobial Stewardship and in antimicrobial resistance surveillance
    • Improve compliance with aseptic care technique and the correct use of antiseptics, detergent and disinfectants, through training and audits

    Medical Officer

    • The Medical Officer will offer quality health care to all patients in the hospital and work closely, as the team leader with nurses, staff in lab, pharmacy and health post to ensure all services are offered. 

    Key Responsibilities

    Program management:

    • He/she is in charge of the hospital.
    • Ensure all patients are attended to daily in the hospital.
    • Ensure the hospital is running effectively in all the wards
    • Attend to all emergencies, both medical and surgical.

    Health Records and Information Assistant

    Key Responsibilities

    Data Management

    • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date health records for patients.
    • Compile, organize, and store patient records following data privacy policies and health facility protocols.
    • Ensure timely entry of health data into relevant systems such as KHIS, DHIS2, or LMIS.

    Data Analysis and Reporting

    Nurse Midwife

    Key Responsibilities

    Maternal Care:

    • Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including health assessments, counseling, and education.
    • Identify high risk pregnancies and making necessary referrals to medical officers.
    • Supervise and assist mothers in labor, monitor labor using partograph and nursing care plans.
    • Ensure all required observations, prescribed treatments and procedures are properly carried out and documented in the patient’s chart.

    Family Planning:

    Community linkage:

    • Coordinate with the community health workers to ensure continuity of care of all clients on discharge.

    Additional duties:

    • Supervise incentive staffs working in the maternity ward
    • Escort patient to other referral hospital when necessary.
    • Do hospital coverage and on-call as required.
    • Monitor and supervise proper usage of supplies.
    • Maintain equipment in good condition and submit regular inventory report of the same.
    • Carry out any other additional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

    Hospital Administrator

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure protection, development and maintenance of hospital facilities
    • Facilitate use of Information, Communication and Technology to enhance service delivery

    Clinical Officer Reproductive Health

    Program Activities:

    • Conduct daily ward rounds in the maternity.
    • Ensure patient management is in line with the set MOH, WHO and UNHCR guidelines and protocols.

    Nutritionist

    Key Responsibilities.

    • Direct implementation of IMAM, ensuring management of all under-fives/PLWs enrolled in OTP/TSFP programs in line with the WHO, IMAM protocol. Participate in data collection, data entry in IMAM registers and EMR, and reporting of IMAM data through MOH tools and IRC database.
    • Ensure timely identification and treatment of acutely malnourished children and pregnant and lactating women by creating or strengthening nutrition surveillance and assessment systems at health facilities and community. Train and mentor staff -CHWs, OPD staff, auxiliary nurses on family MUAC approach.
    • Participate in daily ward rounds in the SC ward ensuring that all required observations, prescribed treatment, and procedure are properly carried out and documented in the patients’ cards in line with the national IMAM guidelines.
    • Support growth monitoring and promotion at the CWC and conduct individualised nutrition counselling to underweight children and those with faltering growth.  
    • Ensure all children under six months and their mothers are screened and managed according to the MAMI protocol/IMAM guidelines.
    • Support capacity building and OJT for the incentive staff through identification of capacity gaps and supporting training.
    • Implement MIYCN at facility and integrating with CMAM programs through group and individual counselling sessions, health education sessions.
    • Monitor utilization of essential nutrition supplies and ensure daily reconciliation of nutrition supplies.
    • Compile and submit weekly nutrition reports and monthly MOH summary reports for entry into KHIS/LMIS
    • Participate in facility-based data review meetings and share performance on key nutrition indicators.
    • Liaise with pharmacist/facility in-charge and order for nutrition commodities to be prepositioned based on consumption and clients on treatment.
    • Ensure provision of quality nutrition assessment, counselling and support in NCD clinics, MCH/OPD, Medical wards and Special clinics (POPC, LBW/Preterm).
    • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Hold a minimum of a Degree in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics from recognized institution.
    • Must be registered with KNDI.

    Experience/Competence

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience within an INGO in implementing emergency community nutrition
    • Experience of Maternal infant and young child nutrition with strong BFHI/BFCI approaches
    • Experience in Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition in a health facility
    • Experience in nutrition survey and assessment
    • Proven analytical, communication/ negotiation skills and ability to think strategically
    • Experience in report writing and excellent computer skills
    • Ability to work in hardship areas (previous experience in a camp setting will be an added advantage)
