    Sea Export Manager

    Role Purpose

    We’re looking for a hands-on, experienced Sea Exports Manager to lead our export operations out of Kenya. This role is all about ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, delivering top-notch service to our clients, managing risks, and driving continuous improvement in line with company goals.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Team Management & Leadership
      • Lead and motivate the sea exports team, keeping them updated on changes and company goals.
      • Coach and develop team members, oversee performance evaluations, and ensure smooth onboarding and training for new staff.
      • Manage team schedules, absences, and workflow transitions when organizational changes occur.
    • Process & Quality Management
      • Build and maintain a strong operational structure with the right expertise and resources.
      • Review and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, high-quality service.
      • Monitor performance through regular audits and quality checks.
    • Operations Coordination
      • Oversee the end-to-end export process to guarantee that clients get the level of service they pay for.
      • Work closely with internal teams (Finance, Legal, Insurance, Risk, etc.) to ensure smooth operations.
    • Risk & Cost Control
      • Put measures in place to minimize extra costs (demurrage, storage, etc.).
      • Ensure accurate billing and compliance with contractual KPIs.
      • Handle customer disputes in collaboration with legal and insurance teams, and implement preventive measures for recurring issues.
    • Reporting & Insights
      • Track and report on operational performance, risks, and market trends.
      • Provide monthly updates to management, highlighting key customer accounts, financial performance, and market outlook.

    Requirements

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience: 5+ years in a busy clearing & forwarding company (with at least 1 year in a managerial role handling sea exports).
    • Education: Business degree plus a Diploma in Clearing & Freight Forwarding or a related field.
    • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills; computer literacy is a must.
    • Attributes: Proactive, detail-oriented, a team player, and committed to integrity and excellence.

    Key Targets & KPIs

    • 100% adherence to service KPIs.
    • Eliminate non-recoverable costs (truck detention, demurrage, storage).
    • Timely invoicing within 48 hours of the last logistics event.
    • Over 98% accuracy on documentation and process completeness.
    • Drive business growth by adding at least 50 TEUs/month from new clients.

    HR Personnel – HR & Compliance Department

    Job Description

    • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in line with labor laws and company standards.
    • Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and off boarding processes.
    • Oversee employee training and development programs, including compliance with company standards.
    • Monitor and ensure adherence to labor laws, health, safety, and other regulatory requirements.
    • Work collaboratively with all departments to maintain certification standard requirements and achieve continual improvement goals.
    • Manage payroll, benefits, and employee records with accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Handle employee relations, grievances, and conflict resolution to promote a positive workplace culture.
    • Prepare and present HR and compliance reports to management.
    • Collaborate with department heads to align HR strategies with organizational goals.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Professional certification in HR (e.g., CHRP, SHRM, or equivalent) is preferred.
    • Proven experience (3+ years) in an HR management role, preferably in the agricultural or horticultural sector.
    • In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Proficiency in HR management systems and MS Office Suite.
