    Deputy Director Placement & Industry Linkage

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

    • Negotiating for sea time opportunities for the students.
    • Establishing linkages with stakeholders (both public and private) for purposes of developing and executing a frame work for advancement and placement of graduates.
    • Negotiating for employment opportunities for BMA graduates with major international shipping companies.
    • Managing and coordinating students and trainers exchange programs.
    • Producing holistic graduate graduates who are prepared for the job market and entrepreneurial activities.
    • Establishing and maintaining a database for students and graduates.i
    • Establishing a frame work in liaison with the Chief executive Officer on opportunities for Scholarship and Sponsorship.
    • Initiating the development of MOUs for purposes of placement and internship of students.
    • Working in liaison with the administration for recognition of certificates internationally.
    • Liaising with National Employment Authority and other relevant government Agency for placement for students nationally and internationally.
    • Marketing BMA graduates to potential employers nationally, regionally and internationally.
    • Ensuring staff development in the Division and: and
    • Appraising staff and coordinating Performance Management in the Division.

    Person Specifications:

    For appointment to this grade a Candidate must have the following:

    • Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been at the grade of Assistant Director, Placement and Industry Linkages or in any comparable position.
    • Bachelors’ degree in any of the following fields: -Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Maritime logistics, Education, Education, Development studies, Marketing, Communication, International Relations or Qualifications in accordance with STCW 78 of the conventions amended, such as Certificates of Competence (CoC), Chief Engineer or Master Mariner (II/2 or III/2);
    • Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: -Maritime Logistics, Education, Development studies, Marketing, Communication, International Relations or equivalent qualifications.
    • Qualifications in accordance with STCW 78 of the conventions amended i.e. Certificate of Competence (CoC), Chief Engineer or Master Mariner (II2 OR III/2).
    • Cumulative fifteen (15) years relevant work experience 3 of which should have been Assistant Director, Placement and Linkages or comparable position
    • Registration by relevant professional body.
    • Leadership course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution; and
    • Proficiency in computer applications skills.

    Senior Principal Trainer I

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

    • Initiating, formulating and implementing institutional policies and strategies.
    • Designing, developing and delivering capacity building programmes in management and related areas.
    • Coordinating development of instructional materials for training.
    • Coordinating development and review of curriculum and syllabus.
    • Coordinating practical sessions, trade projects and business plan development.
    • Participating in sector skills and development.
    • Coordinating and reporting on training programmes, seminars, workshops and symposia.
    • Initiating and coordinating research and consultancy assignments
    • Conducting capacity building surveys.
    • Supervising and mentoring trainers.
    • Designing staff development programs in areas of specialization.
    • Evaluating and reviewing training programmes.
    • Providing necessary liaison between the academy and industry.
    • Coordinating the implementation of training programmes according to the set syllabus; and
    • Coordinating the setting, administration and marking of examinations.

    Person Specifications:

    For appointment to this grade a Candidate must have the following:

    • Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, three of which must have been at the grade of senior Principal trainer II (MET) OR in a comparable position
    • Bachelors’ degree in any of the following fields; nautical science, mechanical, electrical and marine engineering.
    • Masters’ degree in any of the following fields; nautical science, mechanical, electrical and marine engineering.
    • Qualifications in in accordance with STCW 78 of the conventions amended ie Certificate of Competence (CoC) 2nd Engineer (III/2) or Chief Mate (II/2)
    • Competence Based Assessment from recognized institution.
    • Pedagogical skills training Certificate from a recognized institution. 
    • Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks will be an added advantage.
    • Membership to a relevant professional body.
    • Proficiency in computer applications skills; and
    • Fulfil the requirements of chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010

    Corporate Communication Officer II

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop, review and implement communications strategy to support the Academy’s objectives related to communications and marketing
    • Develop and implement corporate communications and marketing plans to enhance the visibility of the Academy
    • Manage the corporate image of the Academy
    • Media management (electronic, print and social) 
    • Coordinate the Academy’s public functions and communication and marketing activities
    • Facilitate the development of information, education, communication (IEC) materials and marketing materials
    • Implement the Academy’s corporate social responsibility function
    • Coordinate corporate functions and manage the public relations and marketing activities and events
    • Manage Academy relationship with the media for prompt and accurate coverage of the events

    Person Specifications:
    For appointment to this grade an Officer must have: -

    • Degree in any of the following disciplines: Communication Studies; Mass Communication; Journalism, Public Relations; Information Science, International Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • High integrity, motivated, and a team player
    • Computer application skills
    • Demonstrate professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results

    Swimming Instructor III

    Job Specification

    • Train students on swimming lessons
    • Treat the pool with appropriate chemicals on a regular maintenance scheduled/perform first aid procedure when necessary 
    • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the pool facility i.e. Cleaning, the pool, benches, poll desk and proper disposal of trash
    • Any other activities on the facilities

    Person Specifications

    • Diploma in the relevant field

    • Supporting trainees’ practical sessions trade, projects and business plan development
    • Monitoring and reporting class attendance

    Person Specifications:
    For appointment to this grade an Officer must have: -

    • At Least three (3) Years relevant work experience at the grade of Assistant Trainer III or in a comparable position
    • Diploma in any of the following engineering fields; Mechanical, Electrical, Marine Engineering or Nautical Science. 
    • Proficiency in Computer applications skills.
