    Head of Business Development, Liability Management and Marketing

    Job Purpose

    To provide strategic leadership in business development in line with the bank's overall strategy position. The position will be responsible for product development, business banking, alternative channels, marketing, and liability management. The position works to improve profitability through careful strategic planning, exploring business opportunities, and positioning in the appropriate markets.

    Job Specification

    • Developing, reviewing, and implementing business development, liability management, and customer management policies, programs, and strategies.
    • Coordinating bank marketing strategy, liability management, and the implementation of annual plans and budgets.
    • Lead generation and growth of the loan, advances, and liabilities portfolio for existing customers and development of new markets.
    • Developing target market selection framework.
    • Managing relationships and networks with business partners and stakeholders. This entails organizing for visits, meetings, and other forums.
    • Ensure cross-selling of bank products to existing and new clients and, in the process, maintain effective liaison with all relevant business units in the bank.
    • Drive end-to-end product management life cycle.
    • Coordinating the development of suitable products and coordinating the development of suitable products.
    • Identify new business development strategy to build and strengthen the bank's portfolio.
    • Identify new business opportunities for the bank, including new markets, growth areas, trends, products, and services.
    • Planning and executing business and product promotional strategies.
    • Creating and managing key strategic partnerships.
    • Overseeing market intelligence and research to identify potential customers.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time. 

    Person Specification

    • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or in a related field from a recognized institution.
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or any other related course or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
    • Registration by any of the following recognized professional bodies: - Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers, Marketing Society of Kenya, Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Markets Association, or any other equivalent
    • At least twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience, eight (8) of which must have been in a senior management role.
    • Detailed and up-to-date understanding of the banking industry, cutting across all departments,
    • Experience in leading a business development team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Competitor analysis to better strategize for business development.
    • Leadership courses from recognized institutions.
    • Proficiency in computer applications,
    • Demonstrated results in work performance; and
    • Fulfills the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

    Manager, Credit

    Job purpose

    • To manage the credit-granting process, including assessing the creditworthiness of potential customers and reviewing existing customers' credit. This position is responsible for managing the bank's loan portfolio while ensuring the quality and health of the loan book.

    Job Specification

    • Initiating development, reviewing and implementing policies, programmes and strategies for lending.
    • Ensure compliance with the lending policy of the bank, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
    • Initiating review of standard operating procedures.
    • Coordinating preparation of credit proposals for consideration and approval.
    • Coordinating management of the loans and advances portfolio.
    • Monitoring and evaluating the bank loans and advances portfolio performance and revenue generation.
    • Coordinating the process of information and filing of periodic returns and questionnaires to the Central Bank of Kenya.
    • Coordinating the bank's equity investment.
    • Coordinating the preparation of management and statutory reports.
    • Preparing and presenting credit reports, including disbursements, loans aging reports, and strategic reports.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

    Person Specification

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

    • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or in a related field from a recognized institution.
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or any other related course or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
    • Registration by any of the following recognized professional bodies: - Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers, Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Markets Association, Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Diploma in Credit, or any other equivalent.
    • At least ten (10) years’ relevant work experience, five (5) of which must have been in a senior management role.
    • Hands-on experience of collateral-based lending, portfolio performance monitoring, and credit risk reporting.
    • In-depth understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies, scoring models, and portfolio management.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce credit risk policies, manage delinquent accounts, and minimize NPLs.
    • Familiarity with regulatory compliance, audit processes, and risk governance structures.
    • Ability to engage stakeholders, regulators, and auditors confidently.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Leadership courses from recognized institutions.
    • Excellent computer literacy, proficient in the Microsoft suite and other risk management tools.
    • Knowledge of banking processes.
    • Demonstrated results in work performance; and
    • Fulfills the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
