    Chief Nursing Officer

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    • Leadership and Management: The CNO is responsible for leading and managing the nursing department, ensuring that it operates efficiently and effectively. This includes setting goals, developing policies and procedures, managing budgets, and overseeing staffing levels. 
    • Strategic Planning: The CNO plays a crucial role in developing and implementing the strategic vision for nursing services. They collaborate with other members of the executive team to align nursing goals with the overall organizational objectives. 
    • Quality Improvement: The CNO is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care by implementing evidence-based practices, monitoring quality indicators, and promoting continuous improvement in nursing processes. 
    • Staff Development: The CNO is responsible for fostering professional growth and development among nursing staff. This includes providing opportunities for education, training, mentorship, and career advancement 
    • Collaboration: The CNO collaborates with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, administrators, and allied health professionals to promote interdisciplinary teamwork and enhance patient outcomes. 
    • Regulatory Compliance and Quality Initiatives/Projects: The CNO ensures that nursing services comply with all applicable regulatory standards, such as those set by state licensing boards or accrediting bodies like The Joint Commission, ISO amongst others. 
    • Patient Advocacy: As a patient advocate, the CNO ensures that patients receive safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care. They work to improve patient satisfaction by addressing concerns or complaints related to nursing services. 
    • Research and Innovation: The CNO promotes research initiatives within the nursing department to advance evidence-based practice and drive innovation in patient care delivery. 
    • Community Engagement: The CNO represents the organization in community forums or professional organizations to promote awareness of nursing services and build relationships with stakeholders. 
    • Overall, the Chief Nursing Officer plays a critical role in shaping the delivery of high-quality patient care, promoting nursing excellence, and ensuring the overall success of the nursing department within a healthcare organization. 

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    • At least fifteen (15) years of experience with at least 10 years in general nursing supervisory with additional three (3-5) years in a leadership role in an acute care hospital 
    • Registration Certificate Issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya 
    • Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya 
    • Computer literacy, Presentation Skills, Communication and People Skills 
    • Certificate in a strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution 
    • Demonstrated high degree of professional competence and administrative capability as well as broad experience in Nursing and Healthcare Standards and Programmes 
    • Master’s degree in any Nursing Discipline, relevant social science or Business Administration. 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution 

    OR

    • Post Basic Diploma in any of the following Disciplines Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Registered Anaesthetic Nursing, Kenya Registered Psychiatric Nursing, Kenya registered Peri-operative Nursing, Kenya Registered Ophthalmology Nursing, Kenya Registered Paediatric Nursing, Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing, Kenya Registered Accident & Emergency Nursing, Kenya Registered Neonatal Nursing, Kenya Registered Nephrology Nursing or Kenya Registered Palliative Nursing from a recognised institution 

    OR

    • Diploma in advanced Nursing in any of the following disciplines Nursing Education, Psychology, Nursing Administration, Community Health Nursing, Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing or clinical care from a recognised institution

    Data Protection Officer

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    • Act as the primary point of contact within the Hospital for members of staff, regulators, and any relevant public bodies on issues related to data protection. 
    • Advise the Hospital and employees on data processing requirements provided under this Act or any other written laws. 
    • Establishing a Data Protection framework and implementation plan, amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders including developing templates for data collection and assisting with data mapping. 
    • Support the Hospital in preparation of privacy statements for each processing operation, and ensuring processes are put in place to ensure that the privacy statement is provided to data subjects on all Hospital forms and/or literature, websites and other communication or data collection mediums. Work with legal team to ensure full compliance on all data protection laws 
    • Providing quarterly status updates to senior and middle management and drawing immediate attention to any failure to comply with the applicable data protection rules. 
    • Carry out an ongoing assessment on the data within our organization whether received or created by you, transferred/ shared within and outside Kenya including, including its storage and security, and to establish your current status in terms of DPA compliance. 
    • Review of third party contracts to determine compliance with the DPA and identify the data controllers and data processors within and outside the organization and assist with the preparation of required consents and agreements with the provision of templates as required 
    • Training of Hospital staff on the impact on their work by the DPA, the handling of sensitive medical data, the exceptions to the DPA in respect of medical records and personal data handled and the effect of the resulting policies and SOP’s. 
    • Review, amend and develop policies and procedures [including data consent forms and agreements] for purposes of compliance with the DPA. 
    • Assess and advise on the procedures for identifying and reporting data breaches and unauthorized data access.

    Qualifications & Requirements 

    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent. 
    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification/Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)/ Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification 
    • Have carried out at least one Data Protection Impact Assessment exercise would be an Advantage 
    • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a data protection compliance or a related field 
    • Strong project management skills. 
    • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information.
