    CSPro Programmer

    Job Summary

    Kenya Population based HIV impact assessment is a survey whose objective is to determine HIV prevalence , incidence and viral load suppression.  CIHEB-Kenya is seeking a CSpro Programmer to support with development and update of survey data collection tools and provide technical support to the teams during training and data collection. The CSPro Programmer for the KENPHIA II will provide guidance to the PHIA project’s data management teams to develop and successfully use CSPro programming.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Provide hands-on support during training on CAPI and CSPro usage
    • Provide evaluation support for all data related training involving CSPro
    • Attend data coordination meetings and provide input on data management of survey and data quality
    • Understand and provide key inputs into development and review of Field Check tables and their role in survey data quality.
    • Support CSPro development and upgrades
    • Work on integrating survey data base with the monitoring database to monitor field teams
    • Utilize a spot-checking application that is administered in the field to do a comparative check on actual data responses from randomly selected households
    • Participate in training on CAPI for interviewers and team leaders
    • Follow implementation in the field during the inception process and assure that data connectivity and transmission issues are quickly resolved
    • Work with KENPHIA II data monitors to understand systematic issues emanating from the field with the program that may need code correction
    • Work on the central processing application (CSPro) coding, training and assisting in implementing the system which manages:
      • Sample integrity
      • Team assignments
      • Team shifting
      • Spot checking selection
      • Data validation routines (consistency checks)
      • Producing reports for data monitors
    • Assist in developing data corrective action plans
    • Test tablet hardware and assure that the CSPro application is properly running
    • Assure that data transmission is properly taking place from field to central office
    • Assist with any incident reporting that requires data management team action
    • Performs other related duties as directed.

    Qualifications

    • At least a bachelor’s degree academic level in database programming, computer Science, software engineering or equivalent degree; alternatively an equivalent professional experience in a related field for at least 6 years.
    • A minimum of four 3 years of professional experience in developing CSPro data processing applications for household surveys.
    • Experience with agricultural smallholder surveys is desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience designing and troubleshooting electronic data collection tools, especially tablets and mobile device data capture applications.
    • Demonstrated experience designing study databases including data quality checks and data collection monitoring reports.
    • Proficiency with other programming languages such as .NET Programming .
    • Proficiency with data collection software, specifically CSPro
    • Proficiency with SAS or STATA statistical software.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • Strong writing and verbal communication
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Good communication and facilitation skills
    • Must be a self-motivated and reliable person who can work with minimal supervision
