Job Purpose

The primary purpose of a driver is to safely and efficiently transport Agency staff or goods and or water trucking from one location to another

Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:

• Driving vehicles as authorized;
• Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
• Keeping up to date work tickets for vehicles;
• Recognizing and reporting mechanical defaults of the vehicles;
• Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
• Maintaining cleanliness of vehicles;
• Preparing and submitting reports on transport;
• Ensuring security and safety of passengers and vehicle on and off the road;
• Ensuring proper mechanical working condition of the vehicle;
• Ensuring adherence to or observations of traffic laws; and
• Ensuring reporting of any incidents to police and/or the office immediately they occur.

Person Specification​​​​​​​

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• Cumulative service period of six (6) years’ work experience three (3) years should have been in the grade of Driver II or in a comparable position;
• Minimum KCSE D+ (Plus) or its equivalent
• Occupational Trade Test I Certificate;
• Valid driving license category C and D free from any current endorsements;
• A defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA) or its equivalent qualification from any other recognized Institution;
• A First Aid Certificate Course from St. Johns Ambulance or any other recognized Institution not more than one (1) year old; and
• Proficiency in computer applications.
