The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will primarily develop and execute engineering or maintenance solutions, propose corrective engineering & maintenance regimes as recommended by the OEM to enhance the organization’s plant’s life cycle and peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and supervise E&M staff in the review of safe working practices as well as equipment preventative maintenance checklists and procedures
Supervise the E&M Department to plan and schedule all outages, combustion inspections, and major inspections by meeting mandatory indicators to bring the units back online as scheduled.
Support the operations team in the implementation of the plant’s operating regime for optimum commercial benefits by conforming to the contractual obligations of the company and performance standards.
Collaborate with the lenders’ engineer and with insurance brokers as and when required.
Coordinate all plant engineering modifications and upgrades in accordance with agreed specifications and approved engineering drawings.
Lead the E&M Department in meeting the plant’s production goals and manage the consumption of consumable materials of the department.
Lead the E&M Department in supporting the start-up and system check for the plant’s units during commissioning.
Ensure that all personnel in the E&M Department maintain the Plant’s equipment in a safe, professional manner, in accordance with contractual and/or industry, environmental, and operating standards.
Manage the Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) by ensuring diligent contract interpretation and performance
Monitor Plant performance and efficiency by analyzing combustion turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, and unit performance including mass and heat balance.
Perform tests on components and equipment to verify design capacity.
Train personnel and facilitate the development of direct reports.
Set standards of Engineering and Maintenance training and qualifications in line with global standards and objectives.
Ensure that the plant is adequately staffed to provide safe and reliable operations.
Provide leadership and job coordination on critical repairs or projects and champion safe work practices.
Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Facility Manager and management.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or in any related field of study.
A minimum of 8 years’ senior management experience in a power station/ heavy industrial plant or similar is mandatory.
Extensive experience in maintenance and engineering requirements in a power station or similar heavy industrial plant is mandatory.
Experience in managing people in a maintenance and engineering environment.
Experience in improving performance and achieving plant availability targets.
Decision-making, problem-resolution, negotiation, and creative thinking skills.
Good communication, interpersonal and managerial skills.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Working knowledge in MS Office suite and other related software programs.
Willing to relocate to work location if not in Takoradi already.
