    Environmental, Social and Governance Officer

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Environmental, Social and Governance Officer is responsible for developing and overseeing environmental, social, and corporate governance policies and procedures, as well as reviewing and appraising proposed products, services, and processes to be socially and environmentally sustainable in compliance with internationally recognized best practices.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare Annual ESG strategy for Board Sustainability Committee’s approval.
    • Ensuring the development of polices and guidelines across the bank to facilitate implementation of the ESG strategy.
    • Monitor the effective implementation of the ESG framework (Policies, Process, Procedures and Guides) and recommend updates in line with changes in laws, regulations, and corporate directives.
    • Conduct environmental and social risk assessments on new products, services, and processes.
    • Support the integration of ESG elements in the overall bank strategic plan and risk management processes.
    • Conduct ESG research and analysis to support the development of ESG policies and strategies for the bank.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key ESG stakeholders, including clients, regulators.
    • Prepare ESG reports, including ESG ratings and disclosures, to communicate the bank’s ESG performance to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Participate in industry working groups and initiatives to advance the ESG agenda in the banking industry.
    • Assessing how current ESG issues are likely to impact organizational performance, including monitoring ESG metrics and recommending appropriate decisions.
    • Prepare the annual training schedule and facilitate the ESG trainings to all stakeholders.
    • To perform any other duty as assigned in line with the organization goals and objective

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, /studies, Business, Economics, or a related field.
    • Professional certifications in areas such as GRI, Environment and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), Sustainable Finance, Carbon accounting.
    • Knowledge of ESG frameworks, such as the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures
    • (TCFD). and world-class impact investing standards, e.g., IFC Performance Standards.
    • 4 years’ experience in the banking industry will be an added advantage
    • Strong experience in Risk and Compliance management within the ESG & Sustainability landscape.
